University of Iowa

Recruitment starts this weekend. My dd says she heard that there are over 1000 pnms! Anyone know the exact count? I think those numbers -if correct- are great for Iowa! Also hoping for a recruitment story!

Yes - she's still loving it!! She has had the honor of being in a leadership position, so is living in the house again this year. I'm so happy about that. She said they had a fantastic work week and is really looking forward to recruitment beginning tomorrow night. I hope there are many happy stories on GC for Iowa!

Heard there are close to 900 who registered this year. That's not confirmed and I'm not sure if that's up or down from last year.

Recruitment begins tonight!

Last year it was 906. I will see if I can find out the exact number. I am not on campus for recruitment. Bronchitis has pimp slapped me

Hope you feel better Jill1228. First round ends tonight so we will probably know more about numbers in the morning.

Hi All,
Thanks to all you familiar names for advice for my girl last year who pledged AXiD. She is exhausted this year from being on the other side of recruitment. Just told me that numbers were reported to be down after the first round due to drops. Anybody know if this is true?

I hope we hear some news from Iowa! I'm wondering why there are drops with just one round done! I'd also like to know what the projected quota will be. I know that they just increased chapter size.

colordogs, a lot of girls drop out at Iowa after the first round. I don't know if it's more the exhaustion (Iowa's houses cover such a huge amount of space) or if it's disappointment about return invitations, or both. Unfortunately the retention rate from day one to pledge acceptance is nowhere near that of the SEC. Also, a lot of girls get cut for grades which doesn't help overall retention rates. When we say grades are important, we aren't kidding, and your awesomeness does not provide a waiver.

Don't classes start somewhere in there, too?
