wait a minute...Omaha is nowhere near San Antonio. Or did you move and not change your location. That's probably what really happened, but I think a better story would be that they just needed an excuse.

I'm too lazy to change my location

Now if the rain gets any worse... hope the unit issues boats to get you to work!

I remember all too well the '98 flood in San Antonio... that place is notoriously poor when it comes to storm drainage and low spots on the road.

San Antone's in deep sh*t when the Olmos Basin floods... cuts off 281.

I couldnt meet with any clients today. 281 didnt get cut off in the Olmos Basin, but other places that have never been cut off before did, like 281 & Brook Hollow, & 410 between Broadway & Harry Wurzbach. It was wierd and backed everything up.

Apparently it only takes 8 inches of rain and 1 low-water crossing death to cancel most university classes for the day (UIW, UTSA, Trinity, ACCD) and the city, county and feds to send everyone home in staggered shifts early.

To Lifesaver, Adri, and other native San Antonians:

How can people here be so extremely stupid then to try to go around a low-water crossing? (Especially in a school-bus full of kids!?).....I swear, every single time there's a drop of rain, the 10 oclock news spends 20 minutes discussing the stupid people.

It's a general rule that if you wind up getting rescued from a flooded low-water crossing because of your own stupidity that SA's finest will send you the bill.

Did they ever finish the interchange at 281 and 410 by the airport? Back when I was living in SA it was a Mongolian clusterf*ck driving anywhere near there... luckily I knew the back roads to get to the airport!

I'm not sure if it's done yet or not...but it's usually pretty smooth going in that area.

Speaking of the airport, if you can find me dirt-cheap fares to chicago 16-19 of next month where I can pick my flights, I would be eternally grateful! (ORD, not MDW if possible, though either works)

Cheapest fare I've seen is $302 round trip to ORD for the above dates, you pay about $10 more if you fly into MDW.

Check the SATO Travel office on base; you might find military discount fares cheaper than civvy street. Here are the nearest offices at Lackland/Kelly:
