Steven King
Does anyone get Steven King movies/books? I know he he supposed to be this great writer/director but I dont get it. Off the top of my head I cant think of any Steven King movies that I would watch twice. Tommyknockers, It, Storm or the Century, Longeliers, Stand, Pet Cemetary. The Shining was ok but that was directed by Stanley Kubrick...

I enjoyed his "Bachman" books (more like a collection of short stories)-- when he published under the pseudonym Backman. There is one particular one that's eerie-- about a guy who went psycho at a high school, held everyone hostage and shot some kids.

yeah, I love that movie. its a classic. it reminds me of a lot of the issues with prison work when I did my short stint as a JCO.

Movie adaptations of Stephen King's books do not do the books justice. For example, "Christine". The movie was ridiculous but a friend recommended I read the book version. I was reluctant; I mean how scary can a book about a possessed car be?
I read it and got scared silly!
I definitely love Stephen King's books and short stories. My favorites being "Pet Sematary", "Carrie" and "Christine"

Did anyone watch the ?Red Roses- Red Bed of Roses? [can't think of title] movie last night? Sounds wacky to me- but we'll see!

My idol...
Stephen King is an amazing writer, and I've read nearly all of his masterpieces. Unfortunately, the movies based on his books don't even come close to showing his true artistic genius. I think the main reason is because he goes into such detail in his books (in order to give background history for his readers), and it's impossible to capture all of those important details on film. If you did, the films would be VERY long.
The best movie based on one of his stories is Stand By Me. It was created from his short story "The Body" which is found in the book "Different Seasons." I highly recommend reading it.

Misery was an excellent movie adaptation. Carrie was too.
