Post Motivation

Hi! I'm the new recruitment chair for my chapter and I feel as though we are very unmotivated. People are annoyed at attending my recruitment meetings and think that I should throw them a party because they attend. They don't realize how much work I am putting into this and its been upsetting me. I need to find a way to boost our sisterhood and make everyone love the chapter again (we had a lot of leadership problems last semester and it kinda made people lose faith in the e-board-- like the watergate of Phi Sig : ) ) Any suggestions???

PhiSigFly, I can relate to what you are saying! We are having the same problem in my house. we as Alums have been working with them and if need be will go down and clean out the bad spots. Plain and simple if they do not get off of thier backsides and get new members there will nothing for them to come for homecoming or anything else! I for one paid my dues to get my sheepskin so if my House was not there, I dang sure would not go back!

Try planning sisterhood events.. get them motivated.. any teamwork building games, events, and things like that, which will promote bonding..
ask them what they want out of the chapter.. and tell them that rush is important because u dont want just anyone to share in your bond.. if u start off small with teamwork, and bonding moments the motivation will follow
if u need any game ideas i have tons!
every chapter goes through this at one time or another with eboard problems!

Been there done that got the t shirt!! :P

Are the same e-board members still in power? Maybe try like a role playing type of thing where people play the prez, etc....people might be thinking other sisters have agendas or whatever that isn't even in their head.

When you have recruitment meetings make sure that it ends with something fun and super easy to plan, like renting movies, a cookout, or going out somewhere. Ask another sister (maybe one who has been feeling particularly froggy) to help you out with the "after-meeting." That way it won't be all work and no play. Plus if people have problems with this or that and just go home after the "work" the problems will fester.

Main point, things have to be cool with the members you already have before you can sucessfully gain any new ones.

While having fun things for sisters during recruitment is a good idea, you should be reminding your sisters that this is the MOST important time for your sorority. I think we look past this, and it is truly the most important point of recruitment. Without new women, our groups would not flourish, and that point needs to be driven home, not matter how much sisters may hate it.
