New WB reality show: "Big Man on Campus"
Something else was new - the WB’s fall schedule, which was suddenly loaded with reality shows. This was quite a shift for the network of “Smallville” and “7th Heaven,” which had once convinced itself it could subsist on a diet of sudsy teenage dramas, whose founder, Jamie Kellner, had once dismissed reality as a passing fancy.
Now the WB was gorging on unscripted filler like “Wannabes,” in which 10 young women compete for a starring role in a future WB show; “Big Man on Campus,” where sorority sisters pick their favorite frat boy; and “Studio 7,” a cross between “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” and MTV’s “The Real World.”
