Phi Sigma Epsilon Legacy Fraternity

I am John Davies, a 1966 (no dinosaur comments please) of West Virginia Wesleyan College. We have a 60's group of Brothers who are active in support of the College. We need a copy of the original Phi Sigma Epsilon Sweetheart song. Phi Sigma Epsilon was a National Fraternity from 1910 until it merged with Phi Sigma Kappa in 1984 reaching to 60 Chapters in it's heyday in the 1960's. I am hopeful that someone out there might have a copy of the sweetheart song in your archives. We would very much appreciate receiving a copy. Thank you.

Have you contacted the Phi Sigma Kappa archives? I'm sure they have a copy, or you can check the Univ of Illinois Greek society archives. They have an extensive collection of old documents from dozens of groups.

I have a copy

John, I have two versions of the Sweetheart song. One from a paddle from Gamma Chapter dated 1965 and another from the Pledge booklet from National from the 70s. The words are a little different. I was National Vice President of PSE at the time of the merger with PSK.

From the Gamma Chapter Spring Formal paddle 1965

MY PHI SIGMA SWEETHEART

I Love Only You

The Thought of You Lingers

So Tender and True

You’re Pure as the White Rose

Of Ole P.S.E.

I’ll Love You My Darling

Through Eternity

Forever and Ever

Your Bright Eyes Will Shine

Your Laughter and Soft Smile

Will Always Be Mine

The Thought of You Lingers

So Tender and True

My Phi Sigma Sweetheart

I’ll Always Love You

NATIONAL SWEETHEART SONG OF PHI SIGMA EPSILON (from the 1971-72 edition)

(Tune of Red Sails in the Sunset)

My Phi Sigma Sweetheart, I love only you.

The thought of you lingers, so tender and true.

You’re as pure as the white rose, of ole P.S.E.

I’ll love you’re my sweetheart through eternity.

Forever my darling, your bright eyes will shine.

Your laughter and soft smile

Will always be mine.

My Phi Sigma Sweetheart, I love only you.

The thought of you lingers, so tender and true.
