Senior comprehensives?

I was just curious to know if any other colleges out there have senior comprehesive exams. Right now, I'm studying for mine. It's a 3 day test that examines us on every class in our major. Stress is slowly killing me......

We have a senior seminar class, that goes over every class in the major but we don't have a three day test over them all. Just a really big paper and a 100 question test.

At my school (Boston U.), as far as I know, most of the colleges don't have that. I think the engineering school might (KSigRC would know better than I would), but as far as the other programs, I don't think so.

My school does not have comprehensives however music majors must pass juries and complete a senior recital. I am an education major and even though my school does not have comprehensive finals I must pass 6 (i think) praxis tests in order to become certified . . . besides, i think student teaching is enough of a comprehensive final!

Yeah, I am music also and I did my recital last semester and I took my all level music exam in December. Now it's just student teaching. No more juries or classes or papers...thank you Lord!!!!!!!!!!

Well, comps begin tomorrow. I have a 3 hour essay test in the morning, then a 200 question multiple choice test in the afternoon. I'm not very concerned with the mc test, it's the morning that's stressing me. Plus, I'm worried that if the essay test rattles me, I'm not going to perform well on the mc. Whoever thought up these things was a complete sadist.

Seriously, I feel like I'm going to die. No more psychology info could possibly be stuffed in my brain at this point.

We have comps at my school as well, but it's only in your major. Mine wasn't too bad, I'm a Chemistry major, but it still blew my Saturday morning.

What school do you go to, Enforcer? There are only like, 9 schools in the country that have comps, so I'm curious to know who is also stressing.

I finished the first part this morning. The test was 3 pages, 8 questions on each page, and you had to answer 4. When I opened my packet, I thought I was going to have a heart attack! However, the first question was about Milgram's study of obedience. Luckily, that is something that has been pounded into my head, so I felt very confident answering it. The confidence carried over to the rest of the test, and even though I was writing up until the last minute, I think I did a good job! Yeah!!!

In case anyone has been reading this threat (academics does not seem to be the hoppin' forum though ) I PASSED MY COMPS!!!!!!

On Wednesday, I finished my oral examination. It wasn't that bad at all! Three professors were there.....two my dept. and one outside professor who I took a class with. They asked me a lot about how my psych education will benefit me in my future plans and stuff about whether Bin Laden has a mental illness. I didn't answer everything as eloquently as I had hoped, but obviously I did ok! Whooohoo!

When I got out, my friends, family, my boyfriend and all of his fraternity brothers were there with gifts of flowers, balloons, and liquor. It was sooo exciting! Plus, my boyfriend surprised me with a puppy for passing.

Well, I'm ready to chill out and have a great last semester! Good luck to all other seniors!!!!

I went to (taking a year off) Howard University. Only the students in the School of Arts and Sciences had to take comps while everyone else gets off scott free. Any way I passed it the first time when I took it my Junior year which is such a relief to me.
