A Superhero Recruitment
Hi, everyone! I'm a freshman going through recruitment at a smaller public university in the Midwest. There are eight sororities at my school:
Green Lantern
Iron Man
Spiderman
Thor
Hulk
Super-Man
Batman
Captain America
We have our recruitment in the student union, so chapters with houses won't have an advantage over the chapters without. Yesterday I visited four chapters, today I will visit four more and then pref my top 5. Tomorrow I can be invited back to up to five chapters for philanthropy night, then I will pref again. If all goes ideally I'll be invited back to three final parties on Saturday, with bid day on Sunday. Yesterday I visited Green Lantern, Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America.
Green Lantern is one of the most popular chapters on campus, although some people say they have a bad reputation. I really wasn't sure what to expect about this chapter, but everyone seemed so nice! I spoke to the philanthropy chair, and everything that this chapter does for their philanthropy is amazing! Every girl I spoke to seemed very sweet, but I didn't feel a very strong connection with them. This chapter will most likely be in my top five.
Iron Man was next. I hadn't really heard anything about this chapter before I started recruitment. The first girl I spoke with seemed very uncomfortable with me, I felt like I was the one leading the conversation and she wasn't really paying attention. The second girl I spoke with was very nice, but we didn't have much in common. I'm pretty sure this chapter won't be in my top five.
Thor was next. This group is known for being very top tier; kind, caring, and gorgeous. I felt very intimidated by them, and although I really care about their philanthropy, I didn't really feel like I could be myself there. The girls were nice, but it doesn't feel like the right fit for me. I can't see myself being a member of this chapter.
Captain America was the last party of the night. The minute I walked in, I felt like I belonged there! The girl that I spoke to is very similar to me in personality, interests, and morals. I felt that it was really easy to talk to everyone there, and they made me feel very welcomed and special. Watching their recruitment video made me feel even closer to this chapter, we have a lot in common! This chapter will definitely be in my top five.
Tonight I get to visit the remaining four chapters. One of these chapters is one that I have noticed around campus, and felt very connected to during the house tours. I'll post my thoughts on them probably sometime late tonight or tomorrow morning, happy reading!
