How competitive is Mississippi State recruitment compared to other SEC schools?

Is it anything like Alabama or Auburn?

It is considered to be a competitive recruitment in line with other SEC campuses. See this thread: Schools Where You Must Positively Have A Rec

Thank you! I have at least one rec for every chapter. But I'm from out-of-state and don't know a soul in Mississippi, so I'm worried that this is going to severely affect my recruitment. And there's no way that MSU can be as competitive as UGA/Auburn/Bama, right? For example, Bama has (correct me if I'm wrong) 17 chapters and 2000 PNMs, while State has 8 chapters and <700 PNMs.

Just because the number of PNM's and the number of chapters are smaller, does not mean the recruitment is less competitive. Approx. 32,000 students attend Bama, where as only approx 20,000 attend Mississippi State. I would count on the recruitment to be extremely competitive, just because it is smaller does not mean it is less competitive.

Part of State's competitiveness comes from some PNMs desperately desiring only a certain few chapters.

Good to know. I'm glad I'm going in with an open mind

The social atmosphere at State may be different from Ole Miss or Alabama but don't let that fool you, it's competitive. Many of the chapters are consistently top award winning chapters for their respective organizations. All of the chapters will offer you a terrific experience. Keep an open mind and be yourself.
