More bad idea yet licensed GLO apparel

This was posted on "that site" a few weeks ago:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/321123735228...84.m1423.l2649

At the time they had them for two other fraternities. Not to be overly dramatic but I nearly gasped when I saw it. Personally, if I saw an image of a Kappa Delta badge stuck on a t-shirt I'd be livid. The seller no longer has anything listed on the site and no similar products on their website so perhaps someone made them aware of their faux pas.

So, what say you, Greekchatters? Where does this fall on the inappropriate scale?

And why isn't there more guidance given to licensed vendors?

For me it falls very low on the inappropriateness scale. We had a Convention t-shirt from a few years ago that had a badge on it, I believe. IIRC, it was on the back.. don't know if that makes it any less "offensive" or not.

I think this is another one of those areas where GLOs can vary widely. For some, it is the heighth of inappropriate to have the badge on clothing, while for others it's not so big a deal. I have a tee-shirt that I bought from our national HQ store that has the badge enclosed in a circle bearing the name of the fraternity over the heart. Unlike some fraternities and sororities I'm aware of, we don't have a policy limiting use of images of the badge to specific contexts, other than that only a brother may wear it.

Interesting to see the listing, but the seller has nothing for sale on his Ebay store. I see the note that they are away & not selling now.... It will drive me NUTS if I see a T shirt with a Theta badge later

I am kind of on the line. I mean, I think the badge is extremely special and should be cherished...and I kind of don't like the idea of having it on a shirt because I think it might take away from the splendor of the sororities and fraternities badges...so I guess if there is no policy against it, it may just come down to personal preference. I for one, wouldn't wear a shirt with the badge on it...but that's just me...

This is not my most fave item on the planet, but honestly, I am more annoyed by CREST image items than badge ones.

This seems to me to be the GLO equivalent of those tuxedo tshirts.

Haha. yes! This is what I was thinking. It's a little weird to me to "wear the badge" in screen print form.

We are not allowed to use our badge for things like this.

I'm not surprised by how much this varies from one GLO to another. In KD we only wear our pins while dressed in "pin attire." A white t-shirt wouldn't qualify as pin attire. So if I wouldn't wear my pin on a t-shirt, why would I wear an image of my pin on a t-shirt? It seems disrespectful. Yes, I realize it's not the actual pin but it still bothers me. I don't like the idea of someone outside my GLO messing around with my sorority's pin.

Because our symbol represents a physical thing, beyond the ritual meanings behind it, I don't think my sorority would have a problem with a t-shirt with a quill on it. It might be better if it was A quill and not an exact representation of our badge. I would think Kappas and Pi Phis might have the same thoughts. A key or AN arrow might be fine, but not so much an exact. But there is something hokey about the badge over the heart which does scream t-shirt tuxedo. Somehow it would be less dorky if it was centered and not to appear to be replacing your badge. Like I can't afford an actual badge so I'm going to wear this screen print version instead.
