i need help

okay so i joined a fraternity this semester as a transfer and am still a pledge. They convinced me to execept the bid by talking up there fraternity. Saying its the biggest on campus i thought that was cool. But NOW that im a pledge i never even see half the brothers they will recruit almost anyone because they want money for there new house they want to build. The fraternity is going down hill and to be honest i feel like half the brothers dont like each other at all and theres a lot of hatred because a lot of people are total opposites. So i now relize i made a HUGE mistake pledging this fraternity and am wondering if it is to late to drop out and join another one next semester?

Ok, just FYI, you are going to get slammed on here for lack of punctuation, capitalization, spelling errors, etc. I personally don't care as long as I can tell what you're trying to say, I'm just letting you know the kind of answers you're going to get.

Secondly, you can drop any time. Whether you can join another fraternity will depend on a few things. Since you are still a pledge and have not been initiated that is good in terms of dropping and joining another fraternity. However, I don't know which campus you are at. You have to be honest with yourself in regards to campus culture. Are you going to be seen as damaged goods? As the guy who dropped one fraternity? Do fraternity pledges often drop and join another group or is this going to be your only chance to be Greek? Pledges are often told that they are taking a risk dropping to join another group and would they rather take the chance to not be Greek. To repeat, I DO NOT KNOW your campus culture and only you can determine if you want to take this chance.

Personally, without knowing any details about the situation, I would suggest sticking it out as long as nothing horribly bad or offensive has happened. KEEP IN MIND THE BIGGER PICTURE. Seriously. Make it work!

*** I am in a sorority and understand that I may be out of my lane.

So when you were rushing, size was a positive in your eyes, but now that you're pledging you're upset that you don't know everyone?

If you think having "opposite brothers" is unique to this fraternity, you are in for a rude awakening.

If you don't like it, drop out. It's not worth wasting your time and money, and their time as well. You may or may not be able to join another this semester; you may have to wait until next semester/rush. You can ask the Greek Adviser at your school about eligibility.

Just so you know, every fraternity/sorority, no matter how large or small, has internal drama. Not everyone likes everyone else. This is true of any organization you join, Greek or not, so be prepared for it no matter what.
