Question Blood Test?!?!?!?

Okay so I have a stupid question...
what is the point of the blood test they give you sometimes before you get married? I know nothing about these sort of things, so excuse my ignorance (I don't even know my blood type). I've heard that they don't do the blood test before you get married here in Nebraska anymore...but I'm interested none-the-less!

Hiya Hootie,

The purpose of the blood test is to check for dangerous communicable diseases, like TB or AIDS or another STD. Some states will even go further to check if you have any rare genetic diseases that may cause problems with having children, like Tay-Sachs or sickle-cell anemia. Its all about you and your future spouse being completely informed.

We got our license in Arizona, so we didn't have to do a blood test. I don't know how many states still require them. Interesting question, though!

AGD love to you,
Greeklawgirl
