Talking RUSH SONGS

okay, i have a question about rush. are there any chapters out there that sing songs to thier rushees about thier sorority or fraternity? sort of like a chant or silly song to get revved up and spirited? if so, and if you can share them (don't want to infringe on privacy/ritualistic issues), i'd love to hear them. i'm not trying to copy them, or incorporate them into my own chapter, but it's just something that my campus is really vocal about (no pun intended) and i think it'd be neat to hear what other chapters sing and chant to thier rushees during rush. so raise your voices and post your songs!

Yep,

We have about twenty rush songs. No lie. We spend sooo long learning them all by heart. Each night of rush we sing an incoming song, when the girls enter our house, then whatever song goes with that particular night, and then an exiting song. And, on the last night we sing five different song. It's crazy.

I don't have them hear with me now, but when I do, I'll post some of them.

I'm going through rush right now, and before my group goes into a chapter room with our Rho Chis, the sorority can be heard in the chapter room chanting little songs about their sorority. It really gets us pumped up and ready to meet the sisters! Gosh, I don't even know if it would be the same without hearing those chants first!

Etienne -
Why don't you post some of yours and then maybe others will post theirs? I could post some of ours, but most of them are made up so the tunes would be hard to describe! But I bet other AX's would know something about "Boom-Boom-Boom-Boom" (this is a joke since this song is an old tired one that I think every AX chapter is sick of hearing!)

I think we are all a little apprehensive about posting our songs since we don't want anyone to copy them. It happens on our campus enough as it is! Then everyone argues about who stole what.

Cool

It only takes a spark....

Does any NPC NOT sing Pass It On?

One day in class a Tri Delt and I compared the different variations. I always felt sorry for rushees when they had three Prefs to go to. By the end of the night they could sing right along.

ROFLMBO! Both hands high in the air, Mam ! Its especially charming when certain groups suck at it!

Does anyone else sing "Pep-Smile" or another version "Smile-Pep"? I have heard this from like a million different chapters (...that may be a bit of an exaggeration... )

Last night I heard Kappa Delta sing something along the lines of "K-A-P-P-A, Kappa K-A-P-P-A. D-E-L-T-A, delta D-E-L-T-A. (Something something something) Don't you wanna be a KD too?" Ok, it looks stupid on here, but it was a really cute song.

Smile, Pep, Charm, Style! That's what she has! But most of all you love her pizazz!

Except for the pizazz part I like that song because it sticks in your head for days.

What I really don't like about the rush songs my chapter uses is that just about all of them start off with spelling. Spelling isn't hard, BUT we do it differently in each song! So we start with one song, get mixed up and end with another! Then the advisors get annoyed cause we screwed up!

We need to steal new songs from our chapter at SDSU. Their songs are SOOO much better.

I hate the Smile-Pep version...it sounds sooo stupid after you learned it as PEP-SMILE! A group (WE HATE) on campus sings Smile-Pep and we laugh our butts off about it 'cause none of the words rhyme...but I digress...

PEP-Smile, You can tell an Alpha Chi by
Charm-Style, boys around her all the while
Pep-Smile, Charm-Style that's only half....
Most of all you'll love her laugh
whoa...whoa...whoa...whoa....Pep-Smile...................

We have our own version that begins:
PAP-SMEAR.....I won't go into the rest

ROFLMBO! We get sooo silly sometimes....that's a lot of free time, huh!

And I thought we were the only ones who sang "Pass It On!"

It's really one of my favorites, though! Then again, as a professional group, it's not like our rushees have had to listen to "too" many versions! lol

Oh well. Anyone else have a version of "Make New Friends?"

I'm always impressed by the creativity -- at our convention last year, we had two groups come up with our own versions of "Mambo Number 5!"

Smile

AXO Alum- We do Smile Pep but it's REALLY similar to yours. Makes me wonder how that other chapter sings it.

I'll put up the words to ours. But as you know I've chosen not to publcize my chapter so...

Smile, Pep!
You can tell a XXXXX by her charm, style!
Guys around her all the while!
Smile, Pep, Charm, Style!
That's what she has!
But most of all you'll love her pizazz!

++Remember to clap on Pep!++ And bend those knees when you bounce!

I hate the pizazz line! Who uses that word?
Some chapters use the whoa whoa and then do it again. But we just go into another spelling cheer.
