Event coming up...what to wear

On Saturday I'm attending a sorority event as an interest and I'm trying to decide what to wear. It's a get together in Central Park, a BBQ I'm told, so nothing too fancy...but these sorority girls always look really cute and put together so I want to make sure I look good. What do you suggest I wear?

Semi-casual business attire? Something comfortable that makes you look good, so you'll feel confident.

What did the invitation say?

If there's no mention of what to wear, I'd go with a crisp shirtwaist style dress in a color that doesn't show stains well, and has pockets, comfortable shoes (cute ballet shoes or wedges), and carry a purse big enough for a lot of literature. Go easy on the jewelry - maybe a watch, necklace, and earrings.

I'd just go with a cute cotton sundress and some nice sandals or wedges. Ditto on what honeychile said about the big purse, expect a lot of handouts to bring home.

Okay. I have a lot of sun dresses. What sorts of handouts should I be expecting? It's the Annual SISTER/TIARA/INTEREST Summer Event.

Central Park...as in New York Central Park? My daughter would wear those shorts that look like a very short skirt and a cute fuller gauzy top. Do not forget the cute jewelry and the accessory de jour: the panama hat (if you have the face for it.) As much as you might want to wear sunglasses..don't...hides the eyes. A sundress is a natural fabric...

Oh, and if there is food have a Tide stick with you...just in case.

Yes, New York Central Park. I actually have a pair of those shorts you're talking about...as for jewelry...I have 2 necklaces that I never take off, 3 rings that I never take off, and a bracelet that I never take off, along with earrings. Is that good enough?

If you're trying to be discreet, this isn't the way to do it.

What organization you're trying to join and where. Then again, maybe you're not, in which case carry on.

I wasn't trying to be discreet about the organization...but you have no idea where...not sure why you think you do...

Don't be surprised if you experience intense humidity.
