I haven't posted in a while, with only one left in college, it was time to move on to other things (like baby websites since I'm going to be a grandmother

), but I thought I'd give y'all an update on Texas Omicron at UT.
As y'all might remember, Omicron began when they separated from the national order which brought on the infamous lawsuit detailed in many an article and in the hazing and risk management section of this site. I stated at the time that I believed they would be fine, and indeed they are.
After a crazy year, a year in which they literally had only about 2 weeks to rush a pledge class, they have not only survived, but are thriving. I have been to many events there this year and have come away so proud of those young men for withstanding an onslaught and coming through stronger and more bonded on the other side. We parents cannot thank the alumni advisors and board enough for being behind the group 100%. They have remained financially sound and have insurance, which is a must! (woohoo

)
Their current status is that of a "Registered Student Organization" with the University of Texas
What the future holds? Who knows. There has been talk with that national order (through lawyers) about the possibility of rejoining, but at this point the talks have stalled and with neither side willing to budge - It's Texas Omicron now and for the forseeable future.
The boys look forward to a successful rush this summer and many more years of fun, fellowship and brotherhood!
