A Mani/Pedi Recruitment

I'm going to be starting recruitment at a very competitive SEC school soon. I won't say exactly when and will probably post my thoughts with a one or two day lag to preserve anonymity. I'm also thinking of just posting my story the week after recruitment, but we'll see - if I'm bursting to share, I don't know how well that would work!

Anyway, I'm using my favorite nail polish colors as chapter aliases. I wanted to match the names to the nail polish colors, but that didn't really work out. Tea with the Queen's a perfect pinky beige, but that wasn't an option.

Anyway, they are:
No More Waity, Katie
Rosie Lee
Jaffa
Let's Plie
Aston
Some Enchanted Evening
Under My Trenchcoat
Hen Party
Mash Up
Lara's Theme
Boom Boom Pow
Pink Ribbon
Wallis
Today Was a Fairytale
Tea with the Queen
Bumster

I'm pretty much ready to go - all of my outfits are set except for one belt, and that should be here in time! I don't think I can express how excited I am to meet my future sisters!!

you could type your thoughts in word and then post it all a week after your recruitment is over. that way you won't burst and your anonymity will be preserved.:-)

and i second ellebud's good wishes.

Thanks for all of the well wishes! And thanks for the tip, FSUZeta! I think I'll probably do that! Sorry for the super late reply, but I worked a really long shift at work today. Ugh.

Wallis! How very British. I love the story of Wallis Simpson and her King because it is so romantic ...

(hijack)

I saw them at the Houston Airport when I was a child! There was no security then--they were just right there next to me!

On another note - do these Butter London polishes hold up well? Somtimes the more I spend on polish the quicker it falls off my fingernails.

33girl - they've always worked pretty well for me! The ones with glitter especially, but those are kind of awful to remove. As long as you do a top coat, they stay for awhile. I've heard most people prefer the Deborah Lippmann polishes, but I'm a pretty loyal Butter London customer.

barbino - I love Wallis! I always think she's one of the most underrated style icons (or is in the US, at least). She always looked so elegant. I love Audrey, of course, but Wallis runs a close second.

If I would've known about it, I absolutely would have used it! I just looked it up and it looks really pretty - the perfect Tiffany's blue!

Okay, I think I'm ready to share! I'll post the rounds every few days! I'm just going to post my comments that I made during the week, so sorry if it seems disjointed!

Open House/Ice Water Teas Round:

No More Waity, Kaite: Loved it. I was so startled by the door sing (it was super loud) that I almost started crying. My eyes actually teared up. The girls were nice and seemed interested in me. They were good at engaging me in conversation. The first girl was really great. We had an excellent conversation and I think I talked to the recruitment chair. I’d really, really, really like to go back the next round.

Rosie Lee: I had a pretty good time. After No More Waity, Katie, I thought I’d have a blast, but it just didn’t have the same feeling. I had a good conversation with my rusher (who, unlike NMW,K, stayed with me the entire time) and I think I met an officer (the president, actually). Good sign? People just kept coming over, introducing themselves, and leaving. This is one of my legacy houses, and though I did feel a little connection, I’m glad that I’ll have Philanthropy to get to know them better. I just need a little more time.

Jaffa: This house was just all right. It might’ve been that I was already tired, but I just wasn’t that excited by it. The conversation was okay, but more superficial and strung out than either house previous to it. It is another one of my legacy houses, so I’ll be back for Philanthropy. I’d be happy to be invited back, but I can’t really see myself there yet.

Let's Plie: I really liked this house. The girls were all really nice and seemed smart, which is important to me. The girl that rushed me was really sweet and definitely made being an LP look appealing. She told me all of these cool philanthropy events and mixers that the chapter was planning and it really did sound good to me. I was introduced to an officer (not sure I should say who for confidentiality’s sake), so perhaps that’s a good sign. I’d be really sad if I don’t go back next round.

Aston: This was one of two houses where I really can’t see myself. I liked the girls, but we just didn’t click. The girl that rushed me was super sweet, but seemed a little ditzy, so our conversation was a little awkward and strung out. Lots of girls came over to introduce themselves, which I thought was a little weird and that could be why the conversation was choppy—we barely got any one on one time! I’d be fine with going back the next round…I just don’t see this as my fit.

Some Enchanted Evening: LOVED THIS HOUSE SO MUCH. The girl who rushed me is basically my twin—we had so much in common! Several girls came over to introduce themselves, but none really stayed for conversation. I might’ve met an officer? Regardless, I’ll be really upset if I don’t get asked back!

Under My Trenchcoat: Kind of the same as Aston. I just didn’t click that well. Though I fit better here than Aston, the girl who rushed me was a little ditzy and I don’t think I would fit in very well here. We had probably the most random conversation, which was cool (I’m pretty random), and we did have a few things in common…I just didn’t feel the same spark I felt at Some Enchanted Evening. I’d love to come back, but I wouldn’t be sad if I’m not asked.

Hen Party: Loved this house SO MUCH. The house was beautiful and all of the girls looked great. The conversations I had were fabulous—obviously we didn’t talk about anything deep, but the girls who rushed me seemed to have similar hobbies and opinions. I felt like I belonged there. I would be really sad not to be invited back.

Mash Up: I didn’t really gel with this house. The conversations I had weren’t bad, but they were kind of shallow/uninteresting. Everyone was really nice, but I felt out of place looks and attitude-wise. I would be okay with returning, but I don’t see it as a good fit.

Lara's Theme: These girls were super sweet and super gorgeous. Their house was just remodeled and is decorated in a really cute way. Their outfits were adorable too. The conversation I had with my rusher was good, but I felt like she didn’t let me speak. As interested as I was in hearing her perspective, I felt like she should’ve been getting to know me. I’m definitely interested in going back to see if I like it. I just can’t tell now.

Boom Boom Pow: This house was pretty and everyone looked really good and acted super nice, but it felt like they were trying a little too hard. I’ll admit that I’ve heard rumors about this chapter and there’s a certain stigma with joining, but I was prepared to set aside tent talk and see it for what it was. The girl who rushed me was really nice, but almost scarily energetic. I definitely would go back, but I don’t know if I could handle the stigma.

Pink Ribbon: I really really really liked this house. It’s known as having really gorgeous girls, which is true, but they were all really nice. The two girls I spoke to were interesting and easy to talk to. We also had a connection, which is important. I’d love to go back, but I don’t know that I’m up to their standards.

Wallis: This was the last house I went to. I was really tired (and so were the rushers!), but I stuck it out. The girls I spoke to were really nice and seemed to really want me there, but it just didn’t stick with me. I’d go back if asked, but I won’t be upset if it’s not on my list.

Today Was A Fairytale: The girls here were really sweet, but I just didn’t feel really comfortable. I felt like the only one not wearing a lot of makeup, and while the girls looked gorgeous, I’m not sure that I could keep up with that level of maintenance on a daily basis. This is the house I’d least like to go back to.

Tea With The Queen: his was my last legacy house. It started off a little awkward because my rusher seemed really tired and a little bored of me, but the next girl that came up was great. We had a really good conversation without any awkward pauses. Several girls came up to me and introduced themselves and I really felt at home. I think they have to invite me back because of legacy policy, but I’d be really sad to see them go.

We only rank the four houses we'd least like to go back to (1 being most willing to go, 4 being never ever do I want to ever), so I ranked
1. Aston
2. Mash Up
3. Under My Trenchcoat
4. Today Was A Fairytale
