Sister-Daughter Gift Ideas
Hello Alpha Gams!
I did a search and couldn't find another thread for this, so if there is one, I'm sorry for creating a double!
I was wondering if any of you would have some ideas for relatively cheap Sister-Daughter gifts. My chapter doesn't do paddles (so I was thinking of making her a plaque with the chapter name, both of our names, and the dates on it); but I am not the most imaginative, so other than that I have no idea what I could get/make for her and I was hoping someone might have some ideas I could work with!
Thank you all!

Pininterest has some cute ideas. Not necessarily flagged AGD, but you could paint the letters on or get some magnetic/vinyl letters.
Also, I found some inexpensive note pads and small boxes with red/yellow flowers a few months ago at Steinmart. I don't know if you have that around you. But with Valentine's Day a few days away, hearts and roses are really in now.

I made these for the girls I'm closest to for Christmas this year, they turned out well! In our chapter, we always do scrapbooks. You can get scrapbooks for less than $20 at Walmart that are pretty much done (You just put your pictures in and write the journaling parts). I've also gotten a tote bag from Michaels and decorated it with our letters, the Purpose, 14 pearls, etc, with fabric paint. Michaels does coupons every week for 40% off one regular price item, so it shouldn't be too much. There's also probably someone in your chapter that has fabric paint somewhere! Also, the dollar store has relatively cheap crafting supplies. You could decorate picture frames, get her red, buff, and green candles, or make her a book full of rose notes. Let me know if you need anymore suggestions!

Craft stores like Michaels have small wooden boxes. You can stain it and thten shallac (sp) some pictures of roses, her name, etc. That way she can use it for small keepsakes.

I make picture frames decorated with out family name or letters. Pin box. Those tumblers with straws are really popular here, so I'm going to decorate one of those too!

For my sister-daughter I got a neutral-colored basket, threaded the top with red, yellow, and green ribbons, and tied them off with little wooden heart thingies I found at walmart. That way it was a container for gifts but also a gift in itself - I think it was a wicker "laundry" sized basket.
You can take any type of container and paint it to make it Alpha Gam specific. I think I have a couple bajillion of those around my house (small ones, candy jars, etc.). I took the petals from the roses my sister-mother got for me for initiation, dried them, and keep a few of them in one of them.
