I'd be interested to know how two adults, even those on a fixed income can live in a place for over 50 years and not have it paid for. Do folks really rent the same place for 50+ years? I feel bad for 'em if they're renters, but if they did what a lot of Americans did, i.e., treated their house like a source of free money from the appreciation which would continue forever, I don't really see why there should be an exception to the rules.
I also have concerns that these ladies weren't getting the medical care they needed and wonder whether this hasn't been all for the best so that adult protective services can make sure they're getting the services they need.
