My Awesome Rush Story!
I've LOVED reading other girls' rush stories, so I thought I would add my own! (:
I go to school in the midwest, and rush isn't too terribly competitive, but nerve racking nevertheless! Ok, here we go!
Last night was my first night of rush. We visited 5 sororities, and tonight we will visit 5 more.
The first group I visited was Dr. Pepper. I had heard really great things about these girls, and I was pleasantly surprised! They were great! I got along perfectly with the girl I was paired up with! I had so much in common with all of the sisters that I talked to. At one point, a good friend of mine who happened to be in my same rush group ventured over to us with her sister and we all began talking. The two of us were cracking the sisters up! At one point they even said, 'oh my gosh! These two are so cute!" I LOVE THEM! When it was time to switch, I didn't want to leave! It's unfortunate that this amazing sorority was the first we visited, because of course I compared everything to them after I left.
Next we moved on to Mountain Dew. These girls were really nice as well! Every sister I talked to said, 'these are the girls I can call at 2 am and I know they'll have my back. They are more than my friends...they're really my sisters!' I loved that! I didn't feel as at-home with this group as I did with the first, but I still loved talking to them! They're second on my list.
Thirdly, I met with Diet Coke. This experience was not even remotely close to the first two. The sister I got paired up with was very awkward, and it was very obvious she was nervous. We had no common ground, and I had to end up asking almost all of the questions because she wouldn't speak up! I was passed on to another girl, and sure enough she was the same way as the first! I was very disappointed with this sorority ):
Fourth was Orange Crush. This was just an okay sorority for me. I talked to three different girls, and we had good conversation about books. I had a great Edward/Jacob debate with one of the sisters--both of us are team Jacob--and it was fun! I liked talking about books...it was different! But still, I didn't have that I-can-be-myself-at-home-feeling. I will give them another chance though!
Lastly, I visited 7-Up. My sister is in this sorority at her college, and I had heard nothing but great things! Unfortunately though, the two sisters I spoke with and I were scrambling for conversation. I did not feel like it was the place for me. The girls were nice, but on the shy/quiet side. I am very outgoing! I almost felt as if my big personality was too much for them. I'm hoping to get a bid back though, because I would still like to get to know them more.
So, I think it was a successful first night! I can't stop thinking about Dr. Pepper! The girls in that sorority reminded me so much of my friends from back home! I'm really excited to meet the other 5 tonight. Hopefully tonight goes even better than yesterday did.
I'll have an update after I get home! I hope you continue reading my story! And if you have any advice, PLEASE feel free to send it! (:

I'm liking Mt Dew...perhaps I'm biased due to my uncontrollable addiction to the diet variety...but what they said about the friendships sounds so wonderful! Good luck.

Five more sororities today!
First we went to Cherry Coke. I had heard nothing but great things about this sorority, and I was really excited to meet them. Somehow sister/PNM partnering got screwed up, so I ended up talking with a sister and another girl in my PNM group. I didn't like that. I like it much better when it was a just a sister or two and me. Nevertheless, the girls I met were adorable! All were so sweet and nice, and I loved how passionate they were for their sorority. I hope I get an invite back...I want to get to know them better!
Pepsi was next. I was interested to meet these girls because I always see them around campus and they always look flawless! Full hair and makeup EVERY SINGLE DAY! Now, I'm a girly girl, and i love love love dressing up, but there's nothing I love more than sweatpants and my favorite hoodie! The first sister I was paired up with and I didn't really mesh. There weren't any awkward pauses, just generic conversation. I was passed on to another sister, and I liked her a lot! She was really sweet and very knowledgeable about the sorority. The third girl I met was just so-so.
Afterwards we met with Pink Lemonade. This is a bottom tier sorority on campus, but I loved the sister I was paired with! We talked non-stop about our obsession with sparkles, shoes, and Forever21. It was fun! The other sisters I met were also nice, but the first girl and I joked that we were 'rush soulmates.' The girls in this sorority are not at all like the types of girls I am friends with, but I wouldn't mind going back and getting to know them better.
Hawaiian Punch was fourth. My good friend is a three-generation Hawaiian Punch legacy, so I was looking forward to meeting them. They were so much fun! Each girl was very different...some looked like beauty queens, others looked like they had just gotten out of the shower. But I loved our conversation, and I loved that each girl was different from one another! The sisters and I talked about the most random things...funny high school traditions, the 90's cartoon TV shows Doug and Hey Arnold (who else remembers them?!), and our weird talents. They kept apologizing for the random and unusual rush conversation, but told me that it had been their favorite conversation of the night! Yay!
The last group of the day was Snapple. The girl who greeted me was adorable and SO energetic! I was a cheerleader all through high school, so I loved her pep! She was so excited to talk with me and to introduce me to her other sisters. You could tell she was very proud to be a Snapple! She introduced me to a girl who, crazy enough, WENT TO MY HIGH SCHOOL!!! Such a small world! Her and I talked the rest of the time and we had so much in common. Our conversation felt...I'm not sure how to describe it...real. I talked to the two sisters like I talked to my friends at home. They were all so bubbly, fun and goofy...just like me! When it was time for us to go, the girls told me they wished I could stay there with them and continue talking all night! I loved them!!!
As of now, my rank is:
1. Dr. Pepper
2.Cherry Coke
3.Snapple
4. Mountain Dew
5. Hawaiian Punch
6. Pepsi
7. Pink Lemonade
8. 7-Up
9. Orange Crush
10. Diet Coke
Tomorrow is philanthropy day and we will receive invitations from up to 6 sororities. I'm hoping that at least my top 5 will invite me back. I loved them! I'm already having such a hard time making decisions...I like everyone so much! Hopefully tomorrow I will develop even more intense rush crushes! Stay tuned (:

Such a busy day today--9 hours worth of rushing!
I got invitations back to all of my top 6 except for Hawaiian Punch. I was okay with it though because instead I was invited back to Pink Lemonade!
The first sorority I went to was Pepsi. I was greeted by the girl who I had spent a lot of time with yesterday. We sat, did a craft, and just hung out. I was really comfortable around her! A lot of sisters came up to introduce themselves, all of them, INCLUDING THE PRESIDENT!, said ''we've heard so much about you! We're so happy to have you back!" It was great to know that the sisters had been talking about me and were truly happy to see me there!
Next was Dr. Pepper. I was SO happy to see them on my list of invitations! They were my absolute favorite from first rounds, and I couldn't wait to go back. The sister I met up with was adorable, and again, many sisters came up to me and said that they had heard a lot about me and were happy to see me back! (: I love their philanthropy and the girls remind me so much of my friends from high school. My favorite part of my conversation, though was when some sisters told me that they were all inseparable. Seniors-freshman were best friends. I LOVED that! They all care so much for each other, and they make it very obvious. I didn't want to leave!
The third sorority was Snapple. I was really excited to meet with them again because I had liked them so much yesterday. I didn't get the same feeling this time around. It could have just been the girl I was talking to...(she was a bit of an airhead) or the fact that we sat at a table the whole time without moving around and meeting other girls at all. I still love them, just not as much as I did yesterday.
Fourth was Cherry Coke. I finally got one-on-one time with a sister this round, and I was really happy about that! We had great conversation and when they presented their philanthropy video, it took all I had not to bust out in tears. I fell in love with their philanthropy! The girls were great, and I'm sure I would fit right in, but it's the cause they support that puts them extremely high up in my ranking. I still want to get to know the girls better, so I'm praying I'll have them for my preference round tomorrow!
Fifth was Mountain Dew. Again, many sisters came up and said they had heard a lot about me and were happy to see me back. The girls in this sorority are SO sweet and comfortable with each other. There is a very wide variety of girls in this sorority, and they were a lot of fun. I could see myself being friends with them...just not sure if it's the right sisterhood for me.
Lastly was Pink Lemonade. The conversation was great, but I didn't really feel like I fit in. Like Mountain Dew, I could see myself being friends with them and grabbing lunch, but I couldn't picture them as my sisters. I was really happy to go back though because I think I would have always wondered 'what if' if I had been invited back to Hawaiian Punch, my 5th choice instead.
It was a loooooong day but extremely fun! I love all of the sororities a ton, and ranking was next to impossible. It took me FOREVER. After it was all said and done my final ranking is:
1. Dr. Pepper
2.Cherry Coke
3.Snapple
4. Pepsi
5. Mountain Dew
6. Pink Lemonade
Preference round is tomorrow, and I will only be visiting two sororities. I'm so worried that I won't be invited back by my top two. I doubt I'll be getting any sleep at all tonight. I'll update tomorrow as soon as I can! Your prayers and thoughts for not only me, but all of the other girls going through recruitment would be greatly appreciated (:

AMAZING day today!!! I was ecstatic to find out that I received invitations back fromDr. Pepper and Cherry Coke, the sororities I ranked numbers 1 and 2!
I knew from the moment I walked into Dr. Pepper that I wanted to be a sister. The girls are just like me! They were the very first house I visited on Day 1 and had been my favorite choice ever since.
Cherry Coke was a little bit different. I really liked them, but it was their philanthropy that put them in second place rather than third. I would have been fine with getting my third choice, but I was really happy to see them on my list this morning.
I visited Cherry Coke first. The second I walked in, I wanted to cry. Everything was so beautiful--the decor, the girls, their song...I was so honored to be there with them. I sat and talked with three different sisters, and felt like I was one of them. The speeches were so meaningful, and I knew that this was where I was supposed to be. People had always told me that you'll just know...and I thought I did know--that is until I walked into the room and spent an hour with the girls I will hopefully be able to call my sisters.
Dr. Pepper was next. Last night, I was so excited to go back. I thought Dr. Pepper was the house for me. This time around, it wasn't the same. They greeted me with so much love and affection, but my mind had already been made up. I didn't get the same feeling of sisterhood as I did at Cherry Coke. Their ceremony was beautiful. The sister I was paired up with told me how much she loved me and how happy she was that her and I were able to spend more time together today. Out of all the girls in each sorority I'd been to, we had had the strongest connection. Leaving absolutely broke my heart. Before we left we were told to make a wish, and she said to me, 'i hope your wish comes true, and I hope it's the same wish that I have for you.' I could have cried I felt so awful! But I just knew it wasn't the place for me.
My final ranking swapped and is now:
1. Cherry Coke
2. Dr. Pepper
Bid day is TOMORROW! I know I'll be happy with whichever sorority I get a bid to, but I'm really hoping that it'll be from my top choice. CAN'T WAIT! (:
*Reminder to girls going through rush-seriously, keep an open mind. My 2nd/3rd choice ended up being my favorite, and my roommate's original 7th choice is now the one she's hoping to get a bid from. Anything can happen!

I decided to bold this because this should be taken to heart.
Crossing fingers for you tomorrow
