In memory of Lynn Edwards Angell and all victims of the 9/11 tragedy

In memory and support of our sisters the Grand Council of Alpha Delta Pi has adopted the following resolution:

WHEREAS, Grand Council was notified today that Lynn Edwards Angell, Beta Omega, was on American Airlines flight 11 that crashed into the first World Trade Tower. She was with her husband, David Angell, executive producer and creator of Frazier;

WHEREAS, The identity of many of the victims of the terrorist acts on New York and Washington, DC are still unknown and there may be other Alpha Delta Pi sisters who have lost their lives or lives of loved ones;

WHEREAS, All Alpha Delta Pi sisters have been affected by this tragedy and many have friends, relatives and business associates that have been directly involved; and

WHEREAS, Many Alpha Delta Pi sisters have mobilized for service to aid the victims of this tragedy; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That in memory of all Alpha Delta Pi sisters who have tragically lost their lives and as an expression of our support for all our sisters whose lives have been traumatized by this week's horrendous events, members of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority will wear blue and white ribbons for the next 30 days signifying our motto, "We Live For Each Other".

Bumping this up just because we are approaching the fifth anniversery.

I think it might be appropriate for us ADPi's to were something (letters, ribbons), to symbolize our sisters who died this day and to remember them.

(Just an idea)

Wasn't Lauren Grandcolas, from Flight 93, also an ADPi? I thought I saw that in an Adelphean.

A friend of mine who homeschools went to Shanksville yesterday, and took a lot of pictures. As close as it is, I still don't have the chutzpah.

I'm pretty sure Honey. There were actually quite a few sisters we lost that day. They were all honored and recognized in the Adelphean, which unfortunately I don't have with me. I can check this weekend and confirm.

I'm going to Shanksville on September 24th, if anyone wants me to leave anything appropriate.

BTW, Yahoo! has been running a series of people's memories of 9/11, and Lauren Grandicolas' husband does one of the videos. She was pregnant at the time.

Cathy Salter, Beta Pi of Alpha Delta Pi, Cincinnati '86, was working on the 98th floor of the south tower for the Aon Corp. She had made sure her staff left the building. Then she was on the phone with a collegue in the AON Cincinnati office after the plane crashed into the Towers and he asked why she hadn't evacuated. She said she was getting ready to do so right then and that she was in the second tower. Then the second plane hit.

Hi Everyone,
First off, I want to say that I'm not in a sorority and my school doesn't even have Greek life. I found this board by searching Lynn Angell's name. Lynn's husband graduated from my school, and we're honoring her and her husband's memory tomorrow during my school's display of the 9/11: Never Forget Project. We will be displaying 2,977 flags on the lower quad of my school, and one of those flags will be specifically dedicated in her honor. I thought you Alpha Delta Pi ladies would like knowing that Lynn Angell was being remembered on the 10th anniversary of her death. May she rest in peace.

Thank you, belledanseur. I don't know why I just saw this today,

I just got back from Shanksville, where Flight 93 crashed. My DAR chapter laid a wreath, and we chose to leave it at Lauren Catuzzi Grandcolas' (and unborn child - engraved on the wall!) wall. I was so choked up by that kind gesture. We then went to a small chapel set aside for the heroes of Flight 93. All around the walls were mementos of them, artwork given in their memory and flags of all 50 states. We rang the bell 40 times, then one small toll - it was terribly moving! The people of Shanksville were more than generous of their time and understanding.

Seriously, I haven't yet been to the WTC site, but if you get a chance to go to the Flight 93 site, it will touch the soul of anyone human!
