The application for membership for my fraternity (I am an Alpha) explicitly states that we don't discriminate based on sexual orientation.
However, membership selection is left up to the chapter. There may be chapters that an openly gay aspirant may find extremely hard to get in to and other chapters where it is not an issue.
At the end of the day, the chapter can deny you for any reason they want to and not even mention your orientation.
The best thing you can do is make sure your grades are impeccable, be active on campus, and befriend the members. If you don't possess the quality of being able to make friends with strangers, you will not become a member of anything that is selective.
Remember that this is not a job - it is not objective. Nor is it an honor society. Nor do we select based on potential. We fundamentally pick people who we want to be around.
Be the person that men want to be around.
