Top sorority chapter GPA in country?

I was looking at the chapter GPAs at Arizona in another thread and it made me wonder...

Does anyone know which chapters have the highest GPAs in the country? Of all the groups? I don't know if I've ever seen that information here on GC. Does it get posted somewhere on an NPC site or anything?

Or, if not that, what is your sorority's highest chapter GPA and which school?

I would put the Mizzou Thetas up there. In Spring 2011 they had a 3.44, which was a drop from Fall 2010 which was a 3.49. The chapter size last fall was 239 with a new member count of 79. In Fall 2009 they had a 3.526 and all sorority was 3.221.

They have been first in grades on that campus for what seems like forever.

ETA: It would be hard to compare "top grades" across the country due to potential variances in grade inflation, etc. Perhaps someone could determine who has the highest standard deviation above the mean? I would, but I am having too much fun on polyvore these days.

I just moved back south from Phoenix, AZ and I know the members of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. were given a plaque and recognition for having the highest gpa at ASU. wich was a 3.61 on a 4.0 scale.

One of the larger Theta Nu Xi chapters in my region (northeast) had a GPA this past semester of 3.56.

Vanderbilt has pretty high GPAs in its sororities. The Spring 2011 looks a little lower, but if you look at the Fall 2010, you'll see several chapters have above a 3.6

I just pulled out my Eleusius (Chi O magazine) and we have quite a few chapters with above a 3.5, my chapter is one of them

It actually looks like it isn't too uncommon to have GPAs in the 3.5-3.7 range. 3.8 or above, now that's really impressive (or your school has crazy high grade inflation). Along those same lines, if you go to a school where 4.0s are unheard of, a 3.3 average could be really really impressive! It's tough to compare raw numbers alone.

ETA: It's interesting that sorority averages tend to be so much higher than fraternity averages...

Nebraska seems to have high GPAs. Our Gamma Phi chapter there I think has above a 3.5 average. The chapter's stated GPA requirements for recruitment are minimum of 3.5 high school and 3.3 college.

Sorority chapters are larger in general than fraternity chapters. That would be why.

If you only have 50 guys, it takes a lot fewer people to pull your overall GPA down than if you have 100 girls.

I read our Tri Delta chapter at Vanderbilt was first on campus with a 3.6 GPA and our chapter at USC had a GPA of 3.5. At both of these campuses the sororities have higher GPAs than the fraternities.

All of us in Panhellenic should be proud of NPC chapters who have grades significantly higher than the all women's average at every college/university where NPC chapters are located.

On my undergrad campus, the smaller chapters (fraternity and sorority) have the most variable GPAs because of this. They can swing from very low to very high between semesters. The chapters with 70-120 members were much more stable.

That said, the sorority that has had the highest GPA for years has been Delta Xi Phi, a non-Panhellenic multicultural sorority with 15-25 members. They have been anywhere from a 3.45 to a 3.70 most semesters.

...And the fraternity that usually has the highest GPA is AEPi, which is around 35 members and has gotten close to 3.70.

Overall, the sororities are generally higher than the fraternities, and the all-greek average is almost always higher than the all-undergrad average (which is usually between a 3.2 and a 3.3). I'm proud to say that in the last few years my chapter has had the highest Panhellenic GPA, topping out at 3.51 and finally surpassing Phi Mu, which was consistently the highest NPC for years. From what I can find, I don't think any NPC on my campus has ever gone over 3.51.

Zetas having the highest GPA of all the Zeta chapters!

Our most recent annual report listed the following chapters as having the top 10 highest GPAs of all Sigma chapters:

1. Alpha Pi (Clarion)
2. Eta Theta (Gustavus Adolphus College)
3. Zeta Psi (College of NJ)
4. Delta Chi (Virginia)
5. Epsilon Delta (Gannon)
6. Eta Xi (Ursinus)
7. Eta Phi (Pratt Institute)
8. Eta Lambda (Moravian)
9. Eta Beta (Newberry)
10. Epsilon Chi (Northeastern)
