Wham Bam thank you Fam!

Family traditions? Do you guys have any? In my sorority, a lot of emphasis is put on the big/little and family relationships and traditions.

For my fam, we have a family pattern, black sweatshirts with the red pattern, dark grey tshirts with the green pattern. We also have an obscure pattern so whomever is the littlest gets to hold on to the fabric (that would be me.)

There is also a graffitied traffic cone that my big has she'll eventually pass down, and a stuffed animal frog that an alumni has that she swears is going to get to me at some point.

Our family sits together at meetings, and several others do as well, but I know not everyone does.

We also have a lot of traditions that go along with our pledging activities that I can't tell you because then I'd have to kill you, but I really enjoy being a part of my family because of them.

So how abouts you?

My family has a sweatshirt design that we always give to the new initiates in their baskets. I don't know how long its been going on but I know my great grand big has one. So I guess our "family colors" are the ones we use on the sweatshirt.

We also have this thing with everyones names on it dating back 7 or 8 generations. Every year it goes to a new little, but since we have different branches of the family, it stays in the direct line, or whatever you call it. I'm in the direct line so I have it now, but I get to give it to my little this fall.

The last thing I can think of is this journal thats been passed down for a long time. The big sis writes a letter to the little, and they get it on initiation. Then the next year the little writes to their little and passes it down and so on.

I love family traditions!

I have seen family patterns and other certain gifts that are passed down from big to little. The sorority I advise also have families that have specific family poses and one family views it as tradition to attempt to Photobomb the other families. I think it helps create a connection within the sorority and at the same time brings the sorority together because they know each families traditions as well.
