They didn't accept your credits, but put you at a HIGHER grade level?

They didn't realize the mistake until it had already hurt my GPA. I have a 2.9 and the sororities want at least a 3.
I've tried really hard to bring it up but the grades from the mistake ruined it. I scored a 31 on the ACT though...
My resume is really long with pageants, mission trips, internships, being the news anchor at school as well as a lot of community involvement and speaking 3 languages fluently. Will all of that along with Rec's be able to save me where I won't get cut and have a chance to prove myself? Thanks!
Truthfully, we cannot say what will "save you". Contact the Office of Greek Life at the school you'll be attending. Work with your present school administration, if you think that will make a difference.

Bottom line: from the facts you reported, you can expect heavy cuts based on the 2.9 GPA. Your competition will be far above that GPA.

No, she won't be mocked for asking here, she'll be questioned about her story seeming fishy.

And if you don't like it here, no one is forcing you to stay. You're not fighting thr good fight for GC's sullied reputation.

Whatever the reason, your 2.9 puts you on shaky ground. Particularly if we are talking about Bama as you user name suggests. Very difficult but it has been done. A close friend helped her daughter at Ole Miss last year and another at Bama. Both had around 2.9 to 2.95. They called on many friends to make calls on thier behalf. As I understand the SEC in broad sweeping terms, a certain number of scholarship risks can be allowed.

This is true. Each chapter can take a few number of scholarship risks. What constitutes a "risk" is defined by each chapter. You are going to need people you know to do some serious campaigning for you. You are going to need glowing recs and you're really going to have to sell yourself. Meet girls BEFORE recruitment so that they already know you and like you. It's not impossible, but it won't be easy.

I transferred high schools between sophomore and junior year, and my schedule was all messed up like this because different things were taught in different years. I had already had classes that were taught to seniors at my new school, and not had things that they thought I should have had already. Math, which has to happen sequentially, was about the only place where I was actually with my grade level.

So,I'm not totally willing to let her off the hook for bad grades, but transferring can really be FUBAR.

My parents were both military, so I know all about transferring. When I moved from Germany to the US, my credits transferred, so I was able to choose whether I wanted to remain at my current grade level or if I wanted to move ahead.

The OP's story seemed off, though. Why would you be allowed to skip grades if your school didn't accept the credits? That's like transferring colleges and being told that, although you don't have enough credits to be a sophomore, you're going to be able to graduate this semester. If anything, lack of credits = LOWER class standing.

At the end of the day, yes, your low GPA will hurt you during recruitment.

To mitigate, you could take a few college classes and ace them-- so you have a strong college GPA (still retain your freshman status though). One of my girlfriends did this and had a successful recruitment. That may or may not work in your case, but it is something to consider. Of course, this means you have to ace those classes and come away from summer school with a positive reputation on campus.
