Cool COB/Spring Rush

Hey there, I was just wondering if any of you guys went through fall rush and didn't join a house, but then ended up in a sorority through cob or spring rush? I rushed this fall and chose to suicide o pref nite (which I do not regret), but I didn't match... I'm thinking about spring rush, but it may help if you guys had any ispirational stories about cob or spring rush? :-)

Talking

I personally think that COB/informal rush is a great process. There are many wonderful girls who "fall through the cracks" during formal Rush simply because so many rushees are going through and only a certain number can be accepted. I know of several girls in my chapter who didn't get a bid for one reason or another during Formal Rush who were picked up immediately during informal. No one ever thought twice about the fact that they didn't get a bid the first time around, and they were all just as involved in our activities as the girls who pledged from Formal Rush.

Good luck during informal, GiantsChic! Are you going to rush the same house that you suicided in formal, or do you have another group in mind now?

Let us know how everything goes!

Hey there, I still really like KD, the house I suicided during formal rush, but I also like some of the others, such as Gamma phi beta, axo, ect... I don't know too much about some of them, so gonna get to know the better over the semester... so we'll see what happens :-)

I joined my sorority thru COB in the spring of my freshman year. I went through formal rush in the fall, all the way through round 3. The houses I was left with were Alpha Xi Delta (my #1 choice), and two others in which I just knew that I could NEVER be happy. (Don't mean to be mean, I just didn't fit in at those houses and didn't want to join a house just for the sake of joining.)

I also wasn't sure about the $$$ issue. It was my first semester of college and I wasn't sure yet how my expenses would run. I knew that there was a Spring process, so I dropped out.

Two of my friends on my dorm floor joined Alpha Xi, so I went to events with them and was given a bid in December to join the Spring class.

I don't regret the path I took, but spring classes are generally smaller so there were some things that I think we missed out on. Our class was only 5 whereas the previous fall had about 50! Big difference - they had had pledge class socials with fraternity's pledge classes, etc. Also, campus wide there are just WAY more new members in the fall than in spring, so sometimes it felt weird to be walking around campus with my pledge pin. In fall there are 100's of people walking around like that.

But on the flip side, my class was TIGHT. We were definitely the "fabulous five!" All of us were very active in the house and 3 of us ended up on Exec at the same time.

When I went through rush, there were 4 national sororities and 1 (new) local. I went through formal rush, and while I was interested in joining a sorority, I wasn't sold on any of the nationals. I dropped out of rush, went to the local's informal rush the following week, and got a bid from them. And I'm glad I did. So don't be afraid to follow your heart.

I went through formal rush in the Fall of freshman year, I had the houses narrowed down to only a few, and when I got my pref invite I decided that I just did not know what house that I wanted. I waited till spring and did informal rush which is basically where our Panhel does organized cob parties. Four houses were at ceiling and could not rush, but I did not want to go there anyway. When I went through again it came down to the same houses, and after waiting I made a very informed decission. The fact that you acctually know what cob is tells me that you are way ahead of other girls that rushed so it shows me you are most likely doing rush right. Believe me I am glad I waited, and I am glad that I thought about it. Just know if you are someone that cares that much about finding the right house, when you find it put the time in the house to make it better! Good Luck, do what is best for you, and know from me the waiting was the best thing that I could do!

Hey Salacity18! I'm guessing you're one of TPARose's chapter sisters? Tell her to get her butt in gear and post every once in awhile - we need more Pitt people on here!

Welcome, by the way
