because he was instrumental in causing the deaths of thousands of Americans who would otherwise not have gone to Iraq. Hussein wasn't worth it. Current world politics show that we don't have to be the change everyone needs. They'll do it themselves eventually.

No. German intelligence and the CIA were instrumental in causing the deaths of thousands of Americans. Yes this guy lied, but the spooks should have done a much better job on verifying their sources before bumping the info upstairs.

The guy lied because he wanted Hussein out of power. Not only was he probably not thinking about the consequences of war, ultimately those casualties are not his responsibility.
