Electronic Q
The newly-arrived Quarterly has a "green" theme.
I do wonder why the Q takes topics that have been discussed in other media (print and nonprint), restates a lot of it, and adds a little AGD twist (p. 6,
"how your chapter can go green," and p. 5, cites two AGDs who have "green careers"). Why not an article on projects that chapters have for going green -- does any chapter have a vegetable garden so that they can eat very locally? Are new or renovated chapter houses going for LEED certification? (Probably not; LEED is expensive.) Are house associations working with chapters to reduce water use, reduce other utility use (and cost)? Are any chapters involved in campus recycling awareness, or cashing in aluminum cans for philanthropy? Have any Alpha Gams led campus or Greek environmental awareness projects?
That the Q is going electronic for two issues a year. It is a "green" move in more ways than one -- much is made of how much paper it will save -- but I suspect that the real green savings will be money!
P.S. Which other NPC/NIC groups have gone to electronic journals?
