Wii Exercise Games
I was going to bump a Wii or video game thread, but then I decided why not get specific.
I just got a Wii for Christmas, and I'm trying to figure out which fitness game to buy. I didn't realize how many there were!
Based on my research, it seems like EA Active 2 is the best option out there right now. I have also heard really good things about the Zumba workout game. My mom really wants me to get The Biggest Loser game (we're big fans, lol), but I haven't heard a thing about it. Wii Fit does not look challenging enough, but then again, I have not tried it.
Has anyone tried any of these games or have any suggestions for other Wii fitness games? If so, please let me know what you think...also please let me know if there's additional equipment that goes with them! I've noticed that on bestbuy.com, gamestop.com, etc., they sometimes list the game without the package. For example, I've seen Wii Fit sold without the balance board. I just want to make sure that I buy everything I need so that I don't get home only to find out that I'm missing something.
(Yes, I know these are not as good as hitting the gym, but I want something that will keep me moving on the days I can't make it to the gym!!)

I have Wii Fit Plus. It's Wii Fit but with added activities, more fun games, and fitness routines. The main thing I like about it is it's fun, and I need something that will get me to actually exercise, especially in the winter. It's possible to get a good workout on Wii Fit (boxing, running, push-ups, etc.), but there are also fun things (snowball fights and flying in a chicken costume - you actually flap your "wings"). I haven't played any other Wii exercise games, though, so I can't compare.
Does anyone have Kinect for xbox? How are those fitness games?

I like Wii Fit Plus too. It can be really really fun. We like the hula hoop game lol. We have a Jillian Michaels game too that isn't bad.
Kinect is also fun, and challenging. I don't know the names of the specific games we have for that though.

i agree with sky&sea. Wii fit plus does give a good workout, and of course, you can always repeat a segment if you feel you want to extend the workout or you can up the intensity.
everyone i know who does zumba in real life raves about the workout, so i would imagine that the zumba Wii version would be a challenge, at least in the beginning.
i love my Wii fit!

Wii Fit is great for cardio, but admittedly there's not much mobility so I seem to get pretty stiff. But don't underestimate the workout. You will be very surprised. The only non-Wii Fit workout I got was a yoga one and it was terrible.
FYI, the Wii Resort is not a work out; it's just games.
And as with any video work out things, you'll want a couple because they get repetitive pretty quick. I'd start with the Wii Fit and when it gets boring, then go looking for something new.

I wasn't impressed by the workout I got from the Wii Fit games, so I bought EA Active and it KICKED MY ASS. I hated it at first, but love it now. I think I'm going to get Zumba next, as I've heard good things as well.

So I was not patient enough to wait for replies for this thread--I bought The Biggest Loser Challenge this morning, lol
I have tried it yet because we were still visiting with family today but I'll give it a shot tomorrow.

I guess I need to find out what's out for the Wii, too. I got my mom and dad one for Christmas, so they can still get a little excercise. I'd like to get them some more things with it.

I know it's really not what we're talking about but I just got back from my bestie's house where we played the MJ Experience with her family. That thing will make you SWEAT! You do all the choreography from MJ's most popular videos and a lot of the dancing is super hard. Everyone was dripping wet with perspiration after 2 or 3 songs and "Thriller" was probably the most intense (and longest). I would totally count it as an exercise game!

I totally know what you're talking about...you can really get a work out from non-exercise games! My fiance has Mario & Sonic Olympics...we did a bunch of track events and WOW my arms were sore the next day!

I am sore EVERYWHERE. This is how I know that game was serious. I've wanted to soak in a tub all day.

If anyone is looking for a good game, virtual Jillian Michaels just kicked my ass. I highly recommend The Biggest Loser Challenge! I'm in decent shape and I set my workout for "Challenging" which is the 3rd level of 5. "Hard" and "intense" must be TOUGH! Can't wait to find out!
My only minor gripe is there were a few times where I don't think the remote was capturing my full movement (I was doing the jump rope but it wasn't picking that up!) so I'm not sure if it captured my full calorie burn...but it happened only a very small amount of times.

I bought Zumba and tried it and LOVED it. It's a bit tricky at first, but I worked up a pretty good sweat even on easy.
