COB in winter or spring?
my school is doing COB this winter, however only 4 sororities are participating (we have over 10 sororities on campus). I really want to participate, but with such limited choices...should I just wait until spring? will spring have more sororities participating?

We don't know - we don't know your school, the groups involved or what type of recruitment suits YOU best.

But the odds are good that only a few chapters will participate in COB every semester.

there is no harm in participating in the winter-you may find a good fit. if you don't, there is always spring.

This. If you find a group you love and get a bid, why wait? And if you don't, just go through formal recruitment.

For all PNMs who will be asking this question:
Formal Recruitment = all chapters will participate (with possibly an occasional exception, but I'm not going there) .
Informal Recruitment/COB/COR = only those chapters who are eligible to or choose to will participate. I'm not explaining why/who/etc, because it's covered in many other threads and there are many reasons.
YOU DECIDE if you want to experience formal recruitment (i.e. meet all chapters on your campus) or informal recruitment (fewer chapters participating) . We can't decide for you or tell you any more than that.

I'm confused. Aren't winter and spring the same thing? Will they do COB right when school gets back and do a formal recruitment before school is finished? COB (continuous open bidding) is usually done to fill just a handful of spots. 4 groups participating makes it sound like there are 4 groups who are having a more structured informal recruitment. The reason why the other groups are probably not participating is that they are over total meaning that they have more then the maximum number of members. That is a number that is typically set by Panhellenic not each individual group.

No, she didn't understand you were on quarters.
If spring is when formal rush occurs, then yes, all the sororities will be participating. The Greek Life website or Greek Life office should be able to answer that question for you.
And I hate to contradict but informal recruitment and COB/R are not necessarily the same thing. Often all chapters participate in a structured informal recruitment.
