It Was 30 Years Ago Today...

You all have probably heard about it all day, that John Lennon was killed 30 years ago today. Does anyone have anything they'd like to share about John, or the Beatles in general? How did you find out about John's death? Did it shake you up, or did you think that it was only a matter of time?

I think I've made it pretty obvious over the years how much I love the Beatles, and I'm just curious how others feel.

I was wondering if there would be a thread about this.

I've always liked The Beatles. It was pretty much my first memory of music as my parents are both big fans (the story goes that it was one of the first things they found out that they had in common!) It wasn't until the past two years or so that I really got into them. I'm pretty much a fanatic now (please note my "Location" )

Obviously I wasn't alive for this...it would still be 3 years until my parents would even meet! My mom says she was devestated at the news--John was her favorite. The footage I have seen of memorials, etc., after his death make me so sad. It's amazing to see just how influential he was and how much he impacted (in a good way!) so many people. And what's even more amazing is how much he CONTINUES to influence people...people who were not even alive when he was.

Considering I was 21 months old at the time, not a lot to say. Couldn't even tell you where I was. Most likely with my grandmother.

But....

With that being said, I do like the Beatles. My all time fave song is Blackbird.
