Hey everybody!
I'm planning on going through formal recruitment at Cal in fall 2010 and I had a quick question about letters of recommendation and sponsor forms. I've read on some of the chapter websites that sponsor forms are mandatory in order to join. Are sponsor forms the same as letters of rec? If so, would it be okay for me to contact a local alumni chapter for help on getting someone to fill out this form or is that not allowed? I don't know anyone in the chapter so I would need to do this.

Yes, it's the same thing. And you don't need one from someone in the chapter. You need one from an alumna of that organization - any school will do. Check with your teachers, school counselors, friends, parents of friends, friends of your parents, relatives, employers, etc first.
