Random question: closed chapters don't/can't have homecoming events?

There are chapters at my alma mater that closed in the 70s and 80s and still have official Homecoming events (dinners/BBQs/etc.) every year.

we were chartered in 95 and we lasted about 10 years... So the alumni base isn't big. We always get together (even now) the Friday before homecoming and Saturday to tailgate with our letters. It just sucks that we don't have an active chapter anymore and that kills the sense of "homecoming"...for me anyways.
