Question Kappa Delta Elections

Hi lovely KD ladies,

I'm a member of Gamma Omicron Chapter at Wayne State University. We always have our elections the meeting before our Thanksgiving break. To me this seems silly and we never have full attendance at meeting because some girls have already gone on vacation.

With that being said I just want to know when other chapters hold their elections. So comment and let me know maybe our chapter can do something new

Love in AOT!!!

Not a KD but...when does your Thanksgiving break start, and what day are your meetings held??? Our TG never started more than the Wednesday before.

Our elections are usually the third week of November on Tuesday nights. Sorry I should have added that in the post lol.

At the University of Oregon chapter, we make the elections the 2nd to last or the last chapter before our finals of fall term. However, we are in trimesters instead of semesters so that might make a difference. With the elections being near the end, the new council is able to take over starting the next term.

We get our seats in office a few weeks before our winter break, and then we go on break. So we are only in an office position for say 2 weeks before we have a 2 week break. It seems silly to me.

Ours were always around that same time.

But all that the COHB entails is that they fall between November 1 and March 1, as set out in your bylaws. So if it's really a problem, I saw you just bump them up a week or something in your bylaws. I mean vote on them and everything, but if everyone agrees, it should be totally doable.

I'm from Omicron, and our bylaws also state that elections should be held the third week in November. When it is time to revise the bylaws, we will be changing this, but in the meantime, you can ask your CSM or COD for special permission to hold elections earlier. We had no problem getting approval for this, so we actually held our elections the first week of November, and we were able to do officer transition the weekend before Thanksgiving break.

Did you have a quorum as set in your bylaws? If you don't have a quorum, then I don't think that you can technically hold business, such as elections. I would be sure and talk to your CSM and COD if your attendance is so low as to a quorum not being present to vote.
