Thanksgiving Dinner
Have you all mapped out what's on the menu for Turkey day?
Is there a specific item that has to be prepared?
I must have my sister's BAKED Mac and cheese. She uses 3 cheeses...mmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmm good!

I know my household must have Sweet Potato pie for dessert. That is a must for me on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Also, I am really starting to get a taste for the Fried Turkey. My boyfriend's family have been doing the Fried Turkey for the past couple of years and last year.....well lets say a sista got hooked quickly.

Soror, that does NOT count. YOU have to cook the ENTIRE meal, not mama.
I bet Mr. AKAtude is going to enjoy!

How is it that your Mom is cooking dinner??? I agree with AKA2D'91, that is cheating....lol. You have to make SOMETHING to truly make this your first Thanksgiving as a married couple. I am already getting my list together. C'mon girl it's our duty... . But now that I think about it..... . Sike.
Seriously, whatever you do will definitely be special!!!!

Unfortunately, I am not going home this thanksgiving. A staple at my house is my sister's macaroni and cheese. She makes the best I have ever tasted.
I am not one for those traditional holiday dishes. If I never see another turkey, I will be okay. I will probably do cornish hens this year.

I"ll make something. Maybe the pies. I can make some good pies. Y'all just don't understand. My mama can't stay out of a kitchen. Then, if you try to get in the kitchen to help or do something, she will shoo you away! I'm not kidding!
Does anyone like Honey Baked Hams? Hhhhhmmmm....yum, yum!

Love food topics
I'll probably make dessert. My sister dislikes pumpkin, so we have to do two desserts. I'm looking at a Gourmet magazine pumpkin mousse, and perhaps a fruit cake or something.
My mom and sister are doing the main cooking, such as turkey, stuffing, greens (and an alternative veggie for me because I dislike greens ), yams, rice and giblet gravy.

Steeltrap,
If you like cheesecake, there is a Gourmet magazine recipe for pumpkin cheescake that is out of this world.
If you're interested:

It works very well with fat-reduced cream cheese and sour cream. Don't use fat-free products, it doesn't hold together as well.

My whole family gathers at my grandmother's house and there are two menu items that cannot be missing.
The first:
Macaroni and Cheese. My aunt always makes it. One year she was about two hours late because of a snow storm. She called us to tell us to go on ahead and eat without her. We would have but she had the macaroni and cheese. I have never seen more hungry people with food who just would not eat.
The second:
My grandmother's Strawberry Shortcake. When she cuts the cake everyone in the house stops what they're doing to grab a plate. You could get cut by your own family if you try to jump ahead in the shortcake line. My cousin's wife said she knew he loved her when he let her have his piece of cake.

I have to disagree. I always bake cheesecakes and on one occasion, I purchased fat free cream cheese and it did just as well as the regular cream cheese.
