Afghanistan dog hero accidentally euthanized

This has me absolutely heartsick. With all of the training these dogs must receive, why on earth are they not microchipped???

Story from CNN

"I am heartsick over this. I had to personally deliver the news to the dog’s owner, and he and his family are understandably distraught,” said Animal Care and Control Director Ruth Stalter. “We work hard get to strays reunited with their owners. When it comes to euthanizing an animal, there are some clear-cut procedures to follow. Based on my preliminary investigation, our employee did not follow those procedures....”

Obviously, someone needs to be fired. The only good thing to say about this is that Target is now at peace, not dodging bombs or bullets.

I know I'm late in replying but I felt the same way for days afterward. I cried for two or three hours when I found out. I wanted to find the person that did it and give him a piece of my mind.

I did. I know it sounds ridiculous but hearing that story reminded me of friends that I nearly lost to the war in addition to the sadness I felt for their loss.
