x-DG... but i'd like to be a Delta Gamma again!!! hELP!!!!
Hello everyone,
(to remain annoymous, I will be using College#1 College#2 and JC in place of actual school names)
I was recently affiliated with Delta Gamma at COLLEGE#1. Due to financial & personal reasons i disaffiliated with the chapter. I was a DG for a basically one college semester. It is the start of a new school year and due to a recent injury, I have gone on medical leave from COLLEGE#1 and him been taking classes at a few different JC's (Junior College). With this injury, I have been given ample time to think about my life and what I want. That being said, I have decided that I would really like to transfer to COLLEGE#2 next fall. Also, with the time I have spent away from sorority life, I have realized I truly miss it and everything about it. Recent events in other DG's (in which I have friends who are members) have allowed me to see how strong the bond of sisterhood really is... across the nation, and if I can, I would really like to be apart of that once again!
So my question is this: Once you disaffiliate with a Sorority, can you re-affiliate with it? Can I re-affiliate with a different chapter? For example could I re-affiliate at COLLEGE#2 if I get in? If so what is the process, or how would I go about doing this?
Hoping to represent the anchor once again,
qwerty

You should contact your HQ instead of asking a bunch of strangers who know nothing about your membership policies. Your HQ will be able to advise you best.

Yes, contacting your nationals is your only safe bet.

Why do people need for GCers to tell them to contact their NHQ? It seems as though contacting NHQ would make more sense than coming to GC.

As everyone has said, contact Delta Gamma's national office. But you said you quit due to financial difficulties...assess your situation honestly and make sure you have the finances to come back, if it's possible.

Either they're trying to avoid the embarrassment of contacting national and having them slam the phone down, or they weren't members long enough to know that national is the only source of valid information for issues like this. However, if she has friends who are currently DGs you'd think THEY'D have recommended contacting national.
I'm interested to hear how this goes, but I would prepare a carefully worded statement about why you disaffiliated and why you think they should let you back in. And be aware that for a lot of sororities, College #2 DG doesn't have to accept you, even if you are a member in good standing.

"Disaffilate?"
Or did you resign?

I honestly think the "personal reasons" would be more of a stumbling block than the financial issue.

I'll contact headquarters, but i'll wait to see if I even get in first.
If I don't I'll talk to the Sorority at COLLEGE#1, when I disaffiliated, I was told I could rejoin one more time, but only one more time. That's why all this came about, also why I wasn't sure if I even had to contact headquarters.
thanks for all the help!
thanks for all being so nice.

You need to email vpmembership@deltagamma.org and give Ms. Young all the information (with correct terminology and chapters). It's up to her whether to forward your request to Council as they are the only ones who can vote on it.

There is no "wait to see if I even get in first" -- it's not up to the girls at College#2...you need to do things in the right order, contact EO and then if you get permission to "re-affiliate," see if you are a good fit for the chapter at College#2.

I think she means wait until she gets into that college, not that collegiate chapter.

Titchou, thank you so much!
And yes, like knight_shadow understood, I will wait until I see if i get into the actual college before I ask headquarters about re-affiliating!
