we have heart sisters for our new members which is what they get before they get an actual big.
other than that, we had senior pass down which is awesome, but can get out of hand. we all meet either at a local bar or at someone's house and the seniors get together and pass all their sigkap stuff down to the underclassmen. they also have little family traditions like the new sister to the family has to take a shot from some sort of family shot glass or something like that. also, stuff that is passed down from generation to generation like the 1980's pillow cases i have that were passed down and never opened. then there are the very sought after pass down items like the flasks and beer pitchers. stuff like that. it's very fun.
oh yeah, one more. sigma kappa races. this is something you can get started at your chapters. take an ice tray and decorate the outside with letters and stuff. then take the ice tray and a couple of straws. fill the ice tray with the liquor or beer of you choice and have a race to see who can suck up all their beer/liquor from their side of the ice tray. so much fun! many drunken nights as a result of that game.

At Beta Tau we also have heart sisters for new members.
My favorite tradition would have to be shoe hunt. It happens on the Friday of Bis Sis revealing week. All the big sisters of the new member class take a thing of yarn and string it all inside and outside the house. It is mass craziness with string going through the soda machine, mail slot, around telephone poles and up and down the porch on the second floor. All the new members are released in the house at once to find where their string starts. Their name is on a piece of paper with the begining of the string. Then for about an hour girls are crawling under and over everything following their string. At the end of the string is a shoe (usually some cute kids shoe). Once they get their shoe they go to the TV room where their big sister has the matching shoe. It is a great event that the whole chapter gets involved in.

At Alpha Gamma we have Violet Sis's for the brand new members before they get their bigs.
We also do the string for bis sis/lil sis revealing, and it is my favorite night. We send all the pledges out for ice cream with the pledge ed for about an hour, then, as soon as they are out the door, we go to work! We start the string on the tag board on the peg with their name. All along the string are clues about who their big sis is. (Oh, each day during the week, they get gifts from their big and notes from their family, so all week they are trying to guess...) There is also clothing on the string. Each big sis picks a theme, like rock star, or at the beach, and when the lil's reach the end of the string, their big is dressed exactly like them. As the lil sis reaches each item, she puts it on, or if it's not clothing carries it with her.. it's so funny to see these girls all dressed up and trying to get through their strings to their bigs. Everyone agrees that it is the best night anyone has. After everyone finds their bigs, all the families get together and have a family night, where they tell their family secrets. It's such a wonderful night for everyone!

I was procrastinating while proctoring study tables and found this old thread..
Here at Upsilon (Oregon St), we have a really special de-pinning ceremony the day before initiation. After the president takes off all the new member pins, a senior member reads the Legend of the Pearl. At this point, the bigs are standing side-by-side with their littles, and they give them a small pearl ring (just elastic and beads, but they are very cute) to wear on their right pinky finger. The tradition is to wear it on two days in your life: your initiation and your wedding
I keep my pearl ring in my pin box in waiting!
