Protest on campus

I meant to say this earlier, but it slipped my mind. There was some sort-of protest on campus last friday that a couple buddies of mine & I happened upon. Actually, they had guitars with distortion and were strumming REALLY hard. Anyway, so two caucasian guys and one arabian guy were hooked up out the back of this minivan, and one of the guys had a very small American flag on his head, and in retrospect, my guess is that he was going for the turban look, though didn't really accomplish it that well, but you could tell that's what he was trying to do. The Arabian? He wore a shirt that said "My Dad flew a plane into the WTC and all I got was this shitty t-shirt."
There were about 20 people standing around, confused, and not understanding what was going on, the guy with the flag-turban would tell a few jokes to make fun of the shit that has happened, then the other two would start strumming their guitars for a few seconds, i guess for emphasis of the joke. They were told in such a way that it was really hard to comprehend, they weren't above my head, just so random and hard to tell whether he was for us or against us, that no one did anything. Campus cops responded within 5 minutes, I'd say, and that's when we saw the guys shirt....with his guitar, and our blank, expressionless, stares into space, vacant of all understanding, we'd somehow missed the shirt's words. They packed their shit up quickly and the cops got all their id's and such, as soon as the Arabian thought he might be going to jail, he took off his shirt (he had an undershirt). We stayed for maybe 15 minutes, but the cop was just questioning them, taking down info, and all that good stuff that whole time, so I'm not sure if they were ever arrested, but I really hope so. Isn't that F-ed up? I wish some of my buddies had been there, and the cops wouldn't have responded so quickly...my buddies on the football team would have stomped all three of the pricks.

Kinda like on GC...

Sometimes people get their right to free speech confused with their right to act like an a$$hole

This is what kind of crap that goes on in Louisville. Corey, when you saw that guys shirt, you shoulda ran up and punched his lights out. Dont worry about getting whipped. Sometimes you gotta stand up and take a good ass whippin, take one for the team man. What would that have accomplished BillyMac? Well, I will tell you. Some out of the back of the van terroist wanna be would have gotten a broken nose, and you would have felt better about yourself cause you stood up for our country. Dont wait for the big guys all the time, you might be suprised about how much more efficient (i.e. number of punches landed) smaller guys can be.

My dad flew a plane into the WTC and all i got was this shitty tshirt. That really pisses me off. Makes me wanna take my comp monitor and throw it through a wall. (This is the time when James would begin seeing cash signs.)

it wasn't about being too small really, I had buddies with me, we were just stunned by what was happening, and didn't see it til the cops were there. I can deal without going to jail, but trust me..when I did see it, I reached for my keys wanting to punch him with that shit and pierce his skull. I'm not really into counterterrorist attack tactics, but I really hope he didn't go to jail so that he has the chance to wear that again and get assaulted by someone.

I was wondering when you're response would come KA, in fact I've basically been waiting for it since I typed it.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand how beating someone up is standing up for our country.

Isn't that the same shady thinking that resulted in the WTC attacks in the first place? I'm sure the terrorists were sitting around thinking the same thoughts -- hey, we gotta stand up for the little guy and beat up on America. Hey, the guys who crashed the airplanes just had to "take one for the team man."

This kind of macho crap isn't going to get us anywhere. Yes, the guy in the t-shirt is an ass and horribly out of line. But beating him up won't get us anywhere.

Honestly Corey, you have twice the restraint I do so kudos to you for that. Like I said, we dont have to see eye to eye on this kind of stuff. You wouldnt have punched that guy and I wouldnt wear suede britches. It all equals out in the end.

P.S.- Im gonna have to ask you to quit talkin this Pitino UofL garbage. You know what is gonna happen when our teams meet up the first couple years while rick is rebuilding.

Yeah, I know. Actually I've been a UofK fan all my life, all of my other three siblings were there at some point during his reign at UofK. And rebuilding? Yeah, that period may last throughout his stay at UofL, we're pretty miserable, but we'll be inshape with as much as we have to run.

Also, you're right, we don't have to see eye to eye..but we're both 2 good 'ole Ky boys with just a little different means of approach, but in the end...haha, in the end we're probably related. hehe. I like giving in to Ky stereotypes. Nah, what I meant to say was, we're likely to not be too terribly different...so it's all good in the end, I agree!

and valkyrie, violence doesn't do anything for us, but i hope you see where it might be wished, just not acted upon.

I don't get it. What message were they trying to convey?
