A Phi Mu Wedding!
Hey Ladies,
My goodness! I haven't visited Greek Chat since some time in 2005! I've missed you! I was the President of Nu at Shorter College and am now the VP of the NW GA Alumnae Association, but I've been out of touch with the Phi Mu world outside of NW Georgia!
The purpose of this post is to get some ideas. I got engaged in December and I'm planning for our wedding to be in October 2008 (in Georgia). I couldn't find any threads or posts about Phi Mu wedding traditions. Any ideas? I'd love to have a quatrefoil bride's cake. I'd like to put little touches of Phi Mu here and there in my decor, and am considering having a sisters row (reserved for my sisters who RSVP).
What traditions and ideas have you heard of Phi Mu sisters doing at their weddings?

Gracias! No estoy seguro. Quizá en Zion Farms o Barnsley Gardens. Todavía estamos mirando.
(For those who no hablan español: Thanks! I'm not sure yet. Maybe at Zion Farms or Barnsley Gardens. We're still looking.)

I wish I could invite all of Greek Chat, but I just don't think we could all fit in one place! Our guest list is already over 300 and we've only done a rough draft! yikes!

I've only been to one Phi Mu wedding so far...and we sang a random song for the groom. I think it was "Linger". It wasn't that hot. I think I'd prefer something that was a little more intimate and appropriate. I think we were supposed to sing Picture a Girl for the bride, but honestly no one knew that song but me so we ended up doing something for the groom instead.
The bride got the bridesmaids the silver three sapphire stone pendants to wear for jewelry at the ceremony. The cake was VERY Phi Mu, super pink and white with gigantic Love Honor Truth on it if I remember correctly. The bride & myself wore our badges inside our dresses. (It was a lil weird since we were both on Panhellenic at the time, but who wants to disaffiliate at a wedding?!)

Congrats fuzi!
I am also getting married this year and I plan on incorporating Phi Mu in to the day some how. I think I am going to wear my pin on the inside of my dress. I would love to wear it on the outside, but I think it will ruin the organza. I would like to have a pink carnation at the table for each of the sisters in attendance. That is pretty much all I have. Our wedding colors are pink, pink and white, but it is not really because of Phi Mu. Pink and white are my favorite colors and have been forever!

Congratulations on your engagement!
I have been to several Phi Mu weddings, and of course there are rose carnations everywhere.
I have heard that some people say the creed as part of the ceremony
One of our traditions at Alpha Lambda at the reception is to surround the bride and groom and sing the sweetheart song!

I've heard that a certain passage is read within the ceremony. That the bride wears their little sis's badge on the inside of their dress. And i've heard a carnation in the middle of the bouquet kind of hidden.... That's all I've heard. Been to 2 Phi Mu weddings so far. One of our girls married a FIJI and their symbol is the diamond so their wedding cake was the quatrafoil and the diamond together. It was super super cute. I think we sang linger as they left together as well, but I don't quite remember.

Just a little update...I decided that rather than putting real carnations at the tables my Phi Mu sisters will be sitting that I would give them caring carnations instead. These are the carnations from Foundation that can be purchased for sisters at convention. Foundation is mailing them to my house and I will make sure that they get put on the tables!

The Wedding
I was just googling something about my collegiate chapter and stumbled on to this old thread! I haven't been on Greek Chat in forever!!! Here's a little visual update. Our cake board, our scripture reading, and I think one more thing was significant to Phi Mu. Also, my sisters sang to me at the reception So fun!

Enjoy!
