How prevalent is greek life at ECU?

I'll be starting at East Carolina University in the fall, and I'm planning to rush. I was wondering if any of you guys know how important greek life is there. Also, do you know if rush is competitive there? Thanks!

Hello,

I'm going to be a sophmore this year and pledged pi kappa phi this past spring. About 10 percent of ecu students are involved in greek life but about 90 percent go to the fraternity parties. When walking around campus you will feel like everyone is greek. It is definitely worth it to go check everything out. I would recommend you look at delta zeta. These girls are attractive and very friendly. Rush isn't really competitive due to the low numbers that participate in greek life but if a sorority doesn't like you they won't be giving you a bid. anyways hope this helped a bit. Good luck and hope to see you at some socials!

Ps if you hear about pi kapp parties, be there

Just about any sorority member around here is going to recommend that you look at all the sororities and keep an open mind about them all.

welcome to greekchat. i saw your post about ECU recruitment and wanted to suggest that you not try to sway a potential new member(pnm) toward one sorority.

first off, you are assuming that the sorority will want her-they may not. then you are assuming that she will fit in well with them and want to join-she may not.

it really is best to just give out general information and let the pnm decide for herself. just as pi kappa phi would not let just anyone in, everyone may not want to join, either.

LOL, if you need to shamelessly promote your parties on GC they're not any place I would want to be.

I googled for you (Love this site!!): http://tinyurl.com/35c7y33

There are nine NPC chapters and four NPHC sororities, as well as 16 IFC fraternities, five NPHC fraternities, and (according the WIKI) one Native American fraternity and one Native American sorority.

According to the school's website, 7.29% of the student body (almost 1400 students) is represented in the 36 chapters on campus.

To find out details on NPC recruitment, you might try contacting the Panhel Recruitment Director:

First I would like to apologize for promoting a party. I also want to apologize for seemingly directing her to a specific sorority. That was not my intention those are just pretty friendly girls.

Second:
To 33girl- I'm just going to go out on a limb here and say that, if you ever went to ECU, you are no longer in college taking into consideration you joined GC 10 years ago. Unless you are one of those weird people that still hang out with college kids you virtually have no idea what is hot on campus.

To Gusteau- I am glad to know you strictly abide by the principles you preach in your signature. Especially friendship and character. Hypocrite.

To Psi U MC Vito- While your insult was not needed I completely understand why you insulted me. I have discovered from reading your past posts that you still live at home, even though you are 24, and you have to deal with your mom who complains about your laziness and how bad of a person you are. To deal with your insecurties and low self esteem you come onto GC and insult people. It makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I would like to note I am not the first you have insulted.

Thank you for your time.

Me asking what sorority you were a member of while you dispensed sorority advice was not an insult. You are a fucking idiot who has nothing better to do then promote parties on the internet and read up on everybody's history. That was an insult. Better or did you need another example?
