Rush Application

Hey everyone!

So i rushed last year but unfortunately had to drop for personal reasons I wasn't going to rush again but my friends encouraged me to because i really wanted it last year and still do.

I just had a question about the online application. When i filled it out last year, I totally forgot about my freshman and sophomore year activities because I had moved states and just focused on what i had done at my second high school (i have no idea why my brain just totally forgot two years of my life!)

When i fill out the application this year, i of course want to put in the activities i did freshman and sophomore year but i wanted to know if the sororities are able to compare the application from last year and this year? I don't want it to seem like im lying this year! that would definitely not help haha

or since im rushing as a sophomore do they even want to know what i did in high school, or just college?

And i can't remember from last year but how many months/weeks before rush are the applications open/due?
That isn't that important, i was just wondering

Go to your college's website and find out who the Greek Adviser is (or find the number for the Student Life office on your campus and ask them who the Greek Adviser is). Then make an appointment with the Adviser because the answer to these questions is totally dependent on what the norm is on your particular campus.

i would venture to say that on most campuses, information(applications, resumes', recommendations) is not saved from one year to the next, so being able to compare information from one year to the next would not be possible.

that being said, emailing or calling the greek life office as alumiyum suggested is a good idea. you don't even have to identify yourself if you phone.

^^^agree. They might remember you from last year, but they probably won't remember your resume.

Be sure to add any college activities you may have participated in.

Great! Thank you guys! I'll call them and find out for sure but it sounds like I'll be ok

I'll definitely add my college activities too.
Just one more question! Are there any major differences between applying as a sophomore than as a freshman for formal rush? (besides adding college activities etc...)

That depends on the school. At some competitive schools it is harder to get a bid as a sophomore. This doesn't mean you CAN'T get a bid, but it does mean you should keep a very open mind and look closely at all the chapters rather than deciding on your "favorites" too early in rush. This is true for all rushees, but even more so for those who are not freshmen.

At some schools your class status doesn't matter as much if at all.

Since you rushed before you should know where your school falls.

Yeah, sadly I do understand that rushing as a sophomore will be a little more difficult but i decided that I should at least give it a try, the worst thing that happens is i wont get a bid...of course i'll be sad but life goes on. hopefully

And im totally keeping an open mind like you said. I had a blast rushing last year and the different sororities were so much fun to learn about. Im really excited to go through it again, hopefully this time to the end
