John Adams on HBO

I've become totally addicted to this series and wondered if anybody else was watching. I watch it while I DVR it and watch it at least one more time (sometimes two) during the week.

I really love Ben Franklin and how all of his figures of speech come up so casually.

Abigail Adams was truly a remarkable woman and such a progressive thinker. My fave line of hers so far "You ought to send a woman to Congress!"

Anyway, I'm fascinated by this mini-series. Anybody else?

Probably one of the best things that has been on tv in years. Just an amazing show.

I love this show. I have to watch it with wikipedia on my computer, because I hear a name I know, etc, and I just want to know more about them. I have read almost every single name mentioned on wiki.

I like the show, but the latest episode was kind of awkward and rather choppy in regards to transitioning. It sets up Adams as a enemy to the American Ideal, but ends with him coming president. Kind of like, it is a disappointment to see him as president. It really makes Jefferson seem like a champion of the people, and wants you to hear more about him, as opposed to Adams. Historical accuracy or not, that isn't just a good way to set up an episode when in previous episodes Adams was the champion of America.

Been really enjoying the show, particularly the attention to detail in evoking the period, and I will admit that I do need to hit the books on occasion to brush up on events and people I'm unsure about - but all in all a very good historical series that has so far stayed very true to people and ideas of the times being portrayed.

I don't have HBO either, so I haven't been able to watch it. A friend of mine is a descendant of John Adams--her family is from Massachusetts/R.I. She lived in Florida, then came to USC for college, met her future husband there, and wound up staying in S.C.

There's also a very good series about the American Revolution on The History Channel. I thought I knew quite a bit about it, but I'm learning a few things!

I guess I'll have to wait for John Adams to come out on DVD.

One of my fonder memories of college was the now-husband of a sister singing EVERY part of 1776 each time he had a few too many! He had played one of the parts in high school.
