Keep in mind that having people showing up at events isn't enough. You also have to establish a bond them.
So, think about what kind of people will be most fit your your chapter, what they'd think, and what kind of factors will motivate those people to come to events. For example, if you like people who'd be down for a BBQ anytime, that'd be a good event. If you want people who contribute to the community, maybe even do a community service event!
For example, I'm in Triangle, which consists of engineers, architects, and scientists, most of who are shy or take time to warm up to new people. Thus, to cater to that, instead of advertising events, we actively reach out to our target group; otherwise, they'd never feel comfortable showing up. And, the events are small and intimate so that they won't feel alienated because they don't know what to do with a large crowd of new people they don't know.
Your needs may be different. So, the main question is: what kind of guys do you want to recruit?
