SPAM from A-A Marketing Firm

Lately, I have been receiving mail that is obviously being directed to BGLO members. #1, I did not asked for my email address to be used for spamming purposes, #2, I am and never will be a member of a BGLO, #3, I was not asked for my email address to be used for spamming purposes..

I have removed my email from my GC profile because of a few inconsiderate people using it for non-GC purposes.

The latest email today was from prettyskeewee@yahoo.com. I did not see a recent GC post from this person..and gee. the Yahoo box was full..wonder why? Probably rejects)

".... I am forwarding the below message I received from my frat brother as I have
already submitted my story ..... the actual message that came to me is below..."

-------Orignal Message-------
to: <jstan1906@yahoo.com>

from: <milkco@blackplanet.com>

blah blah blah...
******ALSO, DO NOT EMAIL US AT OUR EMAIL ADDRESS BECAUSE WE ARE SURE THAT WE WILL
HAVE A FLOOD OF EMAILS AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RESPOND IN A TIELY MANNER**********
((gee, I wonder why, and they obviously didn't use SpellCheck.))

Thank you family and again please follow the above submission guidelines to protect your interest and ours. Know of a any one else in the zone, don't forget to forward to them.

I hated Spam when I was a child and even more as an adult.

I would contact blackplanet directly... they would be very irked if they knew someone was attaching their name to spam.

I received the same email today also.

Not that I like SPAM, but it's better than getting an unsolicited threatening email from you know who.

Staying---

Can't get rid of me that easily. I know that it is due to a few (probably 1 or 2) jerks.

I just wanted "them" to know that I was on to their trick for getting new "clients".
Thanks y'all.

Yea, I didn't take it personally. The only site I didn't click on was the one in blue (prob the only REAL one). It's just a pain, lol.

Oh well, there are worst things in the world ((that is not an invite to send me more spam/Spam, lol).

Just wanted to add a quick note to this discussion. GreekChat does not share (sell, rent, lease, etc) email addresses of our members to any third parties. I can absolutely guarantee this.

The only emails you will receive from GreekChat are GC account related notification type emails & the occasional GreekChat newsletter/update (which I haven't sent out for a while) if you opted to receive this newsletter in your account.

Well, as a member of a BGLO I receive these messages, too and did not ask for them, nor do I want them. I have no idea how I got on the list. I've simply used the "block" feature to avoid getting e-mails from that address. So far, it seems to be working.

Thanks, Tom!

I wasn't mad, just a little irritated, but hey, think of all the wasted time someone took to send prob hundreds of wasted emails...too bad it wasn't snail mail, then they really would have wasted their time and $$.

I may be wrong about this, but I thought you should NEVER use the "Click here if you want to be removed from our mailing list".
From what I understand, it helps the spammer verify an active account.

When I first got on-line, I was all over the net. Didn't know what I was doing. I wondered into a live chat room where your name shows up immediately. At that time my name was my e-mail!!!
They were all really friendly and the discussion was about lifestyles... I TRIED to follow the discussion but it wasn't making sense ao I asked a couple of questions. Well, they very nicely let me know I was in the wrong forum, but the next day my e-mail was filled with erotica!!! I learned my lesson.

What you said is generally true. However, there many unsolicited emails are created off of commercial lists that are passed around and many of these are from lists that you can safely unsubscribe to. Unfortunately, its typically the case that the more offensive messages are the one you should not unsubscribe to.
