Loose women cause earthquakes! Who knew?!

"Many women who do not dress modestly ... lead young men astray, corrupt their chastity and spread adultery in society, which (consequently) increases earthquakes," Hojatoleslam Kazem Sedighi was quoted as saying by Iranian media. Sedighi is Tehran's acting Friday prayer leader.
Women in the Islamic Republic are required by law to cover from head to toe, but many, especially the young, ignore some of the more strict codes and wear tight coats and scarves pulled back that show much of the hair.
"What can we do to avoid being buried under the rubble?" Sedighi asked during a prayer sermon Friday. "There is no other solution but to take refuge in religion and to adapt our lives to Islam's moral codes."

Thanks, Iran...didn't know we had so much power. Maybe Pat Robertson was onto something with all his ranting after all!

It's not just extreme Muslims who believe this stuff. Pat Robertson is a prime example. There are fundamentalists all over this country who believe that miscarriage, a genetic illness, or weather distasters happen to people because they don't pray hard enough (they blame their own fellow believers for tragedy and crises).

Ahh...I thought you were getting onto me about putting down islam as backwards. I get it! I agree. People are very quick to show that one religion has backwards idiots who use superstition to hold down the masses (particularly women) but ignore the idiots in their own.

Is Pat Robertson the one to blame the Haitian earthquake on the practicing of Vodou?

To those affected by the earthquakes,

I apologize for wearing tank tops and short shorts to baseball games and around campus this spring. If I had known that my wardrobe decisions would be the cause of such devastation, I would have worn jeans and a sweater. I heartily apologize.
