I was wondering if there are any experts out there who can point me to the best references regarding the defining of generations (years, habits, etc.).

It seems that every other resource I read has a different way of defining generations, and even use differing dates for known entities such as "Generation X", Y, etc.

I know that there are variations in actual dates due to the existence of the older and younger ends of the spectrum, so it's hard to give a specific start and end year. I also realize that behavior and trends also help define things.

I just want to know the best places to get find this info (not wikipedia!!). Thanks so much!

PS. this is not for a paper. Just one of my our (my and hubby) Saturday morning chit-chats.
