Well if you like the idea of being a founding member of a new sorority chapter do that. If your mre comfortable with the DZ's join them. If you decide to do the start up you can still be friends with the DZ sisters.

Go to the DZ event and see how you like them! If you click, go forward with them; if you don't, go after the new chapter!

I agree with carnation, i think you should go to the DZ event, and also give the new organization a try. It takes a few weeks to get a colonization going, so its not something you would have to make up your mind up about right now.
Go hang out with the DZ's, and then if they extend you a bid, then you have some thinking to do.
Just relax!

I agree - go to the DZ event and then see. Keep in mind they may not offer you a bid (I hate to sound so negative, but it's a possibility). If they do, and you feel comfortable, go with it; if not, don't, and wait for the colonization.

One woman does not a sorority make. If your fiance's ex is just one of 50 or 60 sisters, don't worry about her, just make friends with your other sisters.

Talking Ditto..ditto

Sweetie, leave the options wide open. Go to the event Tuesday and see how the rest of it plays out. Being a founder is a pretty neat idea.

Okay, I'm of course a bit biased here considering that I am a DZ... But I really do think that you should check them out.

I'm so glad that you decided to meet with them today! And please don't let one girl in the chapter stand in the way of pledging DZ if that's what you really would like to do. At my school, the ratio of girls to guys was 12:1 when I was there, so there was always someone in my chapter who was dating the ex of another sister. It was bound to happen, and the girls just dealt with it. I think that your situation is very similar and I really don't feel like it will be a big issue to the girls.

Please let me know how your meeting goes! Good luck!

i too am a bit biased... BUT i'm a founding sister of my chapter soo i am biased on that regard as well b/c i know how amazing that is! I would just go to both the DZ event and the event of the sorority colonizing.... the women in the chapter are goingto be the selling point above all, and how are you going to know which one is best for you if you don't give both an equal shot! have lots of fun ~ and keep us updated

I'm actually having a similar dilemma myself - Alpha Phi is recolonizing here, and I've spoken with the woman in charge of recruiting women to be founders of Alpha Phi at Duke, and it sounds wonderful - but I also have a friend in Alpha Epsilon Phi who wants me to go through formal rush in the spring and is all about making sure I get a bid there, as I've met and spent time with the members and felt really comfortable.

Decisions, decisions. =)
