it's cold out! how do you keep warm and cozy?
It has been cold and drizzly around here for the last few days. I guess winter is really almost here.
What do you guys do to keep your self warm on the inside? I've been running errands between classes and have to go outside and it chills me to the bone! So for lunch today I picked up a baked potato and cup of chilli at Burger King. I'm on a pretty strict budget but both of those items were on the 99 cent menu. Woo hoo!

Lots of blankets.
And layers of clothing.
Hot showers help.
Rarely does it get very cold here, tho.
Its 85 out right now. I am in shorts and flip-flops.
In south Texas, its more about keeping cool and the stupid AC keeps going gout here at the office.

I love starting a roaring fire in the fireplace on cold winter nights, curling up in my chenille blanket, and reading a good book while drinking a cup of hot tea or chocolate. It's suppose to get in the 30's at the end of the week, and I'm already looking forward to it!

I like to go for a walk in the early evening just when it's getting dark out. Walking past pretty houses with glowing windows makes me feel warm and cozy even when it's cold. Then it's nice to get home and have a cup of tea and curl up with a cat. Or a boy.

Amen to that!
I would also like to salute the European way of doing things. They keep their thermostats low because energy is so expensive. When I was living in Firenze, the temperature in our apartment was never higher than about 62º F. We drank lots of warm beverages, wore socks, layers, sweaters, and everybody slept under nice, warm, down comforters.
Then I got home to freezing Wisconsin and found that my family was sitting with the thermostat near 75º F. I was roasting! I walked around in shorts and tank tops with bare feet. At night I can't sleep if it's warm, so I'd actually have to crack open a windown in my bedroom to cool the room down to the temperature at which I needed it.
I have a wonderful pair of silk long underwear. From November 'til March I wear them under just about everything at school because the wind goes right through you here during the winters. I also wear a scarf most of the time, indoors and out.
And, of course, I'm all about snuggling.

Same here. It's hot like hell in the VI. I can't wait until "winter" when the nights are a lot cooler.
Anyway, when I was in undergrad in upstate NY, I had this goosedown quilt that was THE BEST for keeping warm. It was nice and fluffy too.

Guess what....it was snowing today!! And it's going to continue til Sunday! (<--- southern Ohio)
Hmm..what I do on cold days..that's an easy one. Get my boyfriend over, order a pizza, pop in a DVD and curl up on the couch under some blankets for some umm...."cuddling"...

Not only is it cold here, but it has been raining for days. So, I have found myself drinking hot tea, dressing in layers, and cuddling up underneath a warm blanket. I have also been doing short spurts of aerobics just to get myself warmed up a little (hey, jumping jacks are fun sometimes ) I hate the cold weather, unless there is snow on the ground. Snow makes the 28 degrees outside feel like 75 degrees-especially when you are outside in it!!!!

When I come home and change outta my work clothes, I immediately put on my comfy pants, a long sleeved t-shirt and SOCKS! I can't stand it when my feet are cold.
Then I lay underneath a pile of blankets and my comforter and watch tv.
If the mood strikes me, I'll even make a kettle of tea or some hot chocolate.
At night I like to take a nice hot shower and then pile on the clothes (don't forget the SOCKS) and then stay warm under the blankets before I fall asleep again!
At my parent's house they'll light a fire in the wood burning stove. That thing generates more heat than ANY fireplace ever could. It's so nice to be around it! Especially when the whole family gathers around to watch movies on a saturday night with all the blankets in the house. Fun times
