Social Ideas (Ones That Aren't Costly)

My goal next semester as social chair is to have at least 4 socials with different fraternities and sororities. I may be on a tight budget for next semester so I am trying to think of some good ideas for socials that are not too expensive. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

How do you split cost with the other houses? (half and half?). I would suggest doing simple themes that dont require extra funds for decorations and some icebreakers (i.e. pens, markers, etc...) If you do something simple such as ABC, that would cover it. Just look up themes along those lines and go from there. Good luck

you can do like a gossip girl themed party. have drinks and the ladies are in cocktail dresses while the fellas are in slacks and collard shirts and have mellow lounge music in the background.
here is a super and i do mean super cheap idea: greek movie night. rent a couple of flicks that talk about greeks or even the tv show and just chill and i guess point out the differences between the movies and the real deal. u can then have each frat and sorority make their own special drink and have greek cookies and cupcakes with your letters on them.
i have plenty more ideas. just message me and i can give u the rest.

^^ Because they already own them Vito!

The real challenge there is trying to convince your fraternity to attend a Gossip Girl themed mixer lol

I'm in the same boat as you. One thing we did last year that worked really well was a BBQ or a potluck dinner. The boys surprisingly brought alot of food and loved grilling

My chapter was broke last year and, for one, we had to hold Rush with only $200 (usually it's about $1200). We did a lot of BBQs and Potlucks. It went pretty well. Just don't hold one every week haha. And a few of our mixers are usually events where Brothers cook food and bring it for the sorority women to enjoy (and if it's with another fraternity, then bring out the grill for hot dogs and frat burgers!).

You could also do a Hawaiian theme. You can get those decorations at a party store for fairly cheap and just serve fruity drinks. We did a Hawaiian Night mixer with Phi Psi at my school and we all had a blast!
