Question Secret

What do you do when someone in your organization spills the beans on some that is supposed to be only between your members?

Our President got mad at somebody in another organization and opened her mouth when she shouldn't have.

Please help

If it was something really important to your chapter, then it probably needs to be called to the attention of your judiciary board so that the person can be formally reprimanded.(I'm assuming you have a J-board, I think most organizations do.) Usually each chapter has certain judiciary procedures that must be followed when disciplining a member. The steps that need to be taken should be outlined in chapter bylaws/rules & regulations manuals. If you don't have a copy, then someone on your executive board or an alumni advisory board member should have one. Good luck!

Ouch, that's a tough one! I agree with dzrose93! I'd also recommend talking to the Greek Advisor. That's what they are there for!
Good Luck!

Two words: Standards Board! I don't know if your organization has one AOX81, but in our sorority, a complaint would be filed (by someone who knew what happened), and she would be brought up in front of standards board. "Punishment", for lack of a better word, would depend on how extreme the slip was, but normally it would involve revoking of privileges (ritual, new member activities, social, no formal). It sounds sort of harsh, but it really works in keeping people "in line" with their responsibilities.

Best of luck in a tough situation

If it's a serious breach then I would talk to the Advisor. Then you could keep the personalities out of it and do some damage control.
